Recommendations needed on how to spend 10,000 yen

I signed up for a new ISP a while back and we got 20,000 yodobashi camera vouchers as a bonus.. I convinced the girlfriend to split it between us and she used her half to buy a hoover and a rice cooker.

I, on the other hand, obviously want to get lots of juicy games stuff!

Trouble is they expire at the end of June and there's nothing around I really want to get before then. (I was planning to get Uncharted but it's OOP in Japan, I had to get it 2nd hand in another shop.)

I have a dualshock with one slightly broken trigger (still usable) that I could replace, however I've been happy using the sixaxis - I also still have the spring that fell out of my DS3 so a self-repair is possible if I could be bothered.

I'm thinking of getting Blazblue just cos I've had this VSHG sitting around unused for well over a year and it would be nice to give it a purpose.. I've given up hope on VF5:R coming to PS3. I've never gotten into any 2D fighters before so I worry I might find it too frustrating.

Also considered Mirror's Edge but it's still full price in Yodobashi, I can get it for half that if I buy somewhere else... plus I'm still rather skeptical! There's also Valkyria Chronicles tickling my fancy, but it's the platinum range release with the ****e cover and I'd prefer a native english version.

The final option I can see is to whack 5000 yen into PSN vouchers - boring but I know I would use it eventually. That and a new DS3 would be the boring way to spend it. I need to think of something before I'm guilt-tripped into buying home appliances.. help me!

What would you lot buy? Is there anything coming soon I'm not aware of?

(sorry I only have a PS3 & PSP to buy for.. unfortunately I can't go much over the 10,000 or I'd be getting a new PSP as my one is a little clapped out)

They probably won't let you get PSN tickets with them, BIC only accepts cash these days for Nintendo Points. Yodobashi might be the same.

Get either a brand, brand new game you want, or some accessories. That way you won't be wasting the vouchers on something you could get cheaper elsewhere anyway.

And for goodness sake, don't buy memory cards (SD, etc.) from there either. Their prices are an absolute rip-off.

      Bugger.

I agree that the brand new game option seems best, but that's where I'm a little lacking in ideas.

I thought of something else, I could get an HDD upgrade for my PS3. I'm nowhere near capacity with my 60GB yet though.

I'd probably get 4 games for the PSP from the "Best Price" range. Those are about 2200~2800 in Yodobashi/BIC. But if your PSP is kanckered, I have no idea.

That's not a bad idea actually, I've been wanting to check out LocoRoco for ages and I'm sure there are some others I can find. Not to mention I'd like to upgrade my Minna no Chizu from 2 to 3... it's a shame the GPS adapter won't work with the PSP Go.

My PSP isn't knackered, it just looks like it's been through the wars. Still serves me faithfully though!

May I recommend Boku wa kuukoukanseikan Airport Hero Narita and Monster Hunter Portable 2ndG?
Though the newest version of AH is Shinchitose and that has the most features.

Give them to your missus -- you can always buy the stuff you've mentioned, and game prices drop by the month, but there are some things money can't buy [cheaply] and after having persuaded her to go halves on it you're gonna get major + points for being gentlemanly. Then pick up the bits you've mentioned above in six months for half the money if you still want them then.

                On Beer. And Hookers.

Oh wait, I didn't read past the thread title....

                  I feel ashamed.

(incidentally that is not because I took Spatial's advice)

Spatials advice is a winner imo

Prototype is out in the next few days but looks very similar to infamous which i didn't find too clever (the demo anyway).

Mirrors edge is only worth a tenner at most as it is soo frustrating.

Ghostbusters is out as well this month and looks ok.

Failing that, i'd take your missus out if theres nothing on the horizon that interests you.
