    VidZone Updates

Hello VidZone fans! First of all, I think it is only right and respectful to pay our respects to the King of Pop, ‘the idol’ and without doubt the coolest man on the planet…Michael Jackson. Without him, pop music would not be what it is today. May he rest in peace. It has been a [...]

Nice to see this getting plenty of support, I've been impressed with it so far. I know it's not perfect (The interface is clumsy, though I suspect that might be intentional...), but there's a great variety of stuff on there.

Been able to create a playlist for my eldest daughter which she loves playing from time to time.

I do really like this app and it's killed a lot of time but now that the initial impact has worn off it's starting to show some gaping holes in it's lineup. If the core service has 1.5m tracks and this has 10k they really need to keep the major updates coming as the new releases tend to be fairly limited with many genuine new releases missing from the lineup, let alone older tracks or entire artists missing.

Will the likes of Daft Punk or Beasties ever be on Vidzone?

Why don't you ask on the blog, or their Twitter account? I guess there always going to be labels that don't want to play ball though.

We hope you have been enjoying all the new playlists over the last two weeks. We’re expanding the catalogue as fast as we can and taking all your suggestions, comments, demands and wonderfully weird requests on board (please don’t send anymore odd requests we have plenty! But keep telling us any playlists or artists you want to see on VidZone – we’re taking down all notes).

Don’t forget to stick any of your favourite playlists in your ‘Now Playing’ and save them, as new ones are up every week and we can’t keep them all up there. Once you have saved them feel free to edit them as much as you like deleting and adding whatever you fancy! We promise we won’t get offended.

          NEW HOMEPAGE FEATURES
Madness – As far as legends go, you don’t get cooler than Madness! Over the course of a decade they spent 214 weeks in the singles charts and they’ve come back in 2009 with their best album ever – The Liberty of Norton Folgate. We’ve created a playlist with all their best videos including Baggy Trousers, Our House and It Must Be Love. An Interview, celebrity playlist and competition coming soon!

Workout Music – Want that beach body in time for holiday or are you stuck in winter Downunder and growing on the couch?! If so, “X” on your controller marks the spot! This playlist has up-tempo videos to get you off the couch and pumping those muscles. With videos from Freemasons and the C&C Music factory, they’re ‘Gonna Make You Sweat’!
And…check out the new Homepage playlists features including Eurodance, Chillout Music, Pop Punk Classics, RnB Slow Downs and Breakup Music

          WHAT’S NEW!
Many of you have been asking to view the new video lists online. Below is a list of some of the content live across all countries (Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK).

Our favourites are (everything from) Rage Against The Machine and Cypress Hill, Celine Dion (“I Drove All Night” – guilty pleasure!), all the live videos from Jerry Lee Lewis but most of all, the brilliant hair styles of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince in “Summertime”. It’s all about the hi-top fade!
There's a list of 166 of the new songs here as well as mentioning that there's a brand new U2 video appearing next Thursday.

They also mention in the comments that the the search feature is going to be changed.

          EDIT:
Any specific requests for content should be emailed to [email protected]

Apparently this is being relaunched today as VidZone TV. The current service will be rebranded as VidZone On Demand and will carry on as normal.

This is some info taken from the PlayStation Blog.

            What is ?VIDZONE TV??
Just so there is no confusion ? the VidZone we all know and love will still be available and re-named ?VidZone On Demand?. ?VidZone TV? is a new feature and a different way to enjoy VidZone.

We have dreamt of having over 100 music TV channels at your disposal for any mood or occasion at the touch of a button ? this dream is now a reality. Via a small update to your existing application, VidZone TV gives you all the music you can wish for. Channels will fall under 5 categories ? Artist, Genre, Year, Label and General (for everything else!)

We think you?ll enjoy VidZone TV just as much, or even more, than VidZone On-Demand because, just like regular linear TV, it means you can simply select pre-programmed music TV Channels and let the music roll. No need to search the VidZone catalogue and no need to create your own playlist. In other words, prepare the party or get lazy and let VidZone do the work! Some of our favourite channels include Pop Punk TV, 80s TV, Rock Legends TV, The VidZone Chart TV, All Time Classics TV, Celebrity Playlist: Dizzee Rascal TV, Dave Grohl & Friends TV, VidZone Interviews TV and Video Of The Day TV (where all the exclusives and premieres will feature). There really is a channel (or three!) for everyone. And more ? VidZone TV has also launched Kids TV, Teen Pop TV, Karaoke Favourites TV and Music Divas TV!

            MORE NEW FEATURES & IMPROVEMENTS
            • New main menu carousel ? Sparkly brand new look carousel screen for selecting links to VidZone: TV, Featured, On Demand, Settings and upcoming other new upcoming features.
            • Search function is improved ? It is now possible to perform ?like? searches ? e.g. ?Kill? for The Killers.
            • In-store game purchasing ? Purchase selected PlayStation Store games / content advertised in VidZone without exiting the VidZone application.
            • Full screen experience enhanced ? It?s now possible to see which video is coming up next. There is also a key for all functions and ticker bar available to provide valuable information to users about new/must see content.
            • Video of The Day TV ? The music industry is helping us offer one ultimate video of the day, every day. It will play immediately after opening the application.
            • Clickable pre-rolls ? Some pre-roll advertisement videos are now clickable and launch the Internet Browser.
            • Title changes ? ?Related Videos? has been renamed to ?More by this Artist? ?Home Page? renamed to ?Featured?.
            • Email settings ? It?s now possible to sign up or unsubscribe to emails in Settings > Help menu. If you want to receive updates or competitions from VidZone you need to be registered by email.
