To be honest I do like Starbreeze but I am glad someone else is doing the sequel, They had some really nice design ideas but the engine feels so clunky by today's standards a bit like the source engine and even the one used for COD in some regards.

And unlike source and COD the art/level design wasn't good enough to cover up the age of the thing.

I stopped playing Riddick on the xbox 360 as it had dated badly, I want to maybe pick it up again but I know I will be disappointed.

The darkness was a really underappreciated gem of this gen and had a really great atmosphere and story too it, the actual FPS mechanics were average but then you had the cool darkness powers too.

Some scenes were just amazing though like the orphanage scene.

While the WW1/Hell levels were quite a pain in the ass to actually play I did think the atmosphere in them was pretty creepy and well done.

It's a shame starbreeze aren't working on this as that's who I would want to develop it the most. Hopefully whoever the new devs are do a good job and a worthy sequel

GamesRadar+ takes you closer to the games, movies and TV you love.

Out this autumn! I assume it'll emerge fully at E3

My Secret Santa on here a couple of years back got the original for me, knew little about it but ended up enjoying it a lot! Above all else I thought the characters and the story-telling were really good - if they can clean up some of the ropey combat sections but keep to roughly the same formula I will be very interested.

Oh man I love the darkness, was one of the first games I had played in a while on a console and thought wow, only the hell sections let it down, I felt.

The Darkness was awesome, really properly loved it. As others have said only the lame generic Hell sections sucked big time.
Loved running around in the shadows using my extra appendages to whip out the lights without even looking.

I quite liked the open world aspect of the Darkness I hope they can keep that, but maybe make the world a bit more lively.

Great stuff. The first was brilliant. Awesome voice acting, and the televisions, remember them?
I didn't mind the hell sections tbh, the comedy English zombies were a hoot.

I might talk like a new york gangster for the rest of the evening.

The hell sections were ok but much prefered the city setting at night, felt shady.
                            The darkling kills were awesome.
Really hope they get Kirk Acevedo/Patton back for Jackie/Darkness voice work, fingers crossed this is just as good without starbreeze.

I liked the first and thought Starbreeze greenlit a sequel not long after the first one was released. It's a shame they're not making the sequel though.
