PS2 sales up YoY

With a multitude of great PS2 games I've yet to complete, I have absolutely no interest in the PS3. I mean, yeah, I've got a 360, which satisfies my next gen needs, but I still like the way PS2 graphics look, feel, so many great games it has, possibly the best back catalogue of software for any system (imho).
I mean, the machine obviously has legs - why doesn't some enterprising firm release stuff that never came out over here at a budget price, undercutting the prices of next-gen software. Ffs, some next gen stuff has an RRP of £49.99. That's ridiculous. Jap PS2 shooters on Play-It or 505 Gamestreet at £5.99, that's the way it should be in these dark, credit crunchy times.
I still buy for PS2, and it seems many others do.

I recently bought a slim again for about ?35 and have been picking up a few new releases and classics for peanuts, also recently got Free Mcboot onto a memory card with Cogswap installed on it so I can now pick up a few legit imports as well, a fantastic console which I still think is relevant even now despite the next gen consoles.

Isn't the simple reason the PS2 is still selling well (like the PSone did for several years after the introduction of the PS2) just the price?
For the cost of an Arcade XB360 and one game you can have a PS2, spare controller and maybe 10+ decent condition used games from the PS2s undoubtedly far wider catalogue.
When are the makers going to realise that the Wii, PS2, the popularity of all those PS and older games being released for download and to a lesser extent the handhelds prove that cutting edge graphics are not an essential requirement for success?
They moan about development costs of current gen' HD games yet a significant section of consumers are clearly telling them with their pockets that above a certain level they're really not bothered. It is the entertainment value they're getting for their hard earned cash that matters most.
