    Help translate this GameCube error!

I'm trying to play a couple of Japanese GC games on my US Wii, through Gecko, which usually works fine. However, with Ikaruga and Super Monkey Ball, I'm getting the following error, after the game starts:

    Any idea what it says?

Nothing helpful I'm afraid, it just says there was an error - please reset the console via the power button and consult the manual.

Ah, that's strange. Also, another thing, all the Japanese text in Ikaruga actually comes out as random symbols (mostly f's) - I assume that's something to do with the game loading the language of the console itself, rather than having the language in game - the same thing happens when you look at Japanese save files on the Wii or GC memory card on the US console.

That's an error message I was quite used to seeing on my PAL GameCube. Some kind of hardware error. I just had to hit reset and start from the last save; never had any long-terms issues.

Hmm.. it only seems to happen on those 2 games. Smash Bros, both Zeldas, Mario Sunshine and Killer7 all work.

Yes, I got the same trying to run JPN Ikaruga in US mode on my switched Cube.

Did it actually play though, or did you get the error message?

This happens with my modded (PAL) Wii, but didn't happen with my modded (PAL) Cube. It still runs fine on both machines.

Ok I managed to fix it by using Gecko to reboot with region free rather than booting the game through Gecko, so I could load it directly from the Wii's main menu. Bit of a pain, but oh well!
