Did anybody import a Jap or US console?

Is it the same as the classic PS3 with regards to plugging in a UK lead and it will work or have Sony used region specific PSUs?

Just thinking with that FFXIII console coming out I don't want to blow it up first time I plug it in!

Just picked up a 250gb slim.

Traded a 60gb launch machine and a launch 360 core for it.

I'm simply blown away by how quiet it is and all of a sudden I have started playing games again!

It has been on most of today and didn't really get very hot.

Really pleased with the whole upgrade.

If you don't mind me asking what sort of trade in price did you get on your old PS3?

Toying with the idea of getting a slim if the upgrade isn't too steep.

          Cheers!

Serious question, what made you trade in all that gear and 'upgrade'? Is it purely because it's smaller and quieter?

It just seems like a hell of a price to pay - a 360 and a backwards-compatible PS3, when you could have upgraded your existing PS3 with a 500GB HDD for £30.

Yeah I was pretty surprised by that choice of a trade in too. Besides its not like the older PS3s were noisy beasts before. I could barely ever hear it while it was on.

I guess if hes happy with it thats fair enough to him

Personally i'd consider going from PS3 60gb model to PS3 slim as a downgrade.

Changed mainly for the sound from the fans. The xbox 360 was a launch core replaced by ms once for rrod. Got £73 for that with a small launch HDD. Have never used the backwards compatibility on the ps3 and the fan can be heard in quiet sections watching a Bluray. Got £120 for that. Add a few xbox titles into the mix an it cost me £37 with two games. That sounds like a bloody good upgrade deal to me. Getting rid of two aged noisy consoles!

MCV have details of the newly announced "Classic White" PS3 and details of their new hdd sizes. The 120GB and 250GB models will be replaced by 160GB (¥29,980) and 320GB (¥34,980) versions.

You'll still be able to get the black version, they're out on 29th July and are Japan only at the moment. I'm really not a fan of white "black goods" but these I do think these look bloody nice!

"Machiavelli" - my JPN launch 60Gb console has been a little poorly of late. The fans spin up after only a couple of minutes and the hard drive is unbelievably loud! Figured I should act before he finally keels over.

Picked up a 160Gb Slim earlier today and have just completed the data transfer utility.

So far, so good. It's a damn sight quieter and the extra storage is welcome.

The 60Gb will be going into the bedroom as a Blu-ray player. He's served me well these past 4 years.

                          Good job old friend.

EDIT: Arrrrgh!!! Changing from "O" to "X" for go is spinning me out!!
