Surely there's no-one on here that hasn't bought the geo-tech real triggers for their PS3 pads by now though?

Gran Turismo 5 vs. Forza Motorsport 3?

I think both games will be good, but then I have the choice of playing a racing game with the PS3 pad or the 360 pad.... that shouldn't be too hard I guess.
It's gonna be Forza3 without a question, I rember getting GT4 and Forza about the same time, Forza felt fresh back then with much better handling and much much better controller (controller S) to play racing games GT4 was more of the same with even more boring races to do.
And when Forza2 arrived on 360 I was in heaven, even better handling and sublime online play. I still play it online since the game has been released.
Originally posted by Vince View PostMy biggest grumble about both is that they will be too massive, you have to devote your life to playing them, which ultimately is pretty unfun and boring. The original Gran Turismo was just right (or maybe 2) all the others and the Forza games have had too many cars/tracks in my opinion.
I think both games won't dissapoint, but getting both games will for sure be too much and you will probably end up playing only one of them, and how I see it now Forza3 will be that one.

Again, for those complaining about the PS3 pad, just buy a wheel. GT5 sorted.
I'm personally looking forward to both, I know that GT5 will probably excite me more when I get it seeing the sheer vastness of cars and tracks as well as the insane car detail, more so than Forza 3. But I will be buying both.

I got a wheel recently and tried Forza 2 (official wheel btw) and found it tremendously hard, I'm hoping if I *start* Forza 3 with the wheel, I might not!
Oh and I agree about the size of racing games, I'm all for choice in cars, but Forza 2 was an exercise in grinding, and it turned me off eventually after adoring it. I don't want to grind a track in a racing game, I want fresh experiences every time, and most importantly...fun.

good one Kubrick, it would also be great to do the single races with friends online, a bit like playing FPS in co-op , it would make some of boring races more fun to do...

Those made up courses where dire on Forza 2 so hoping we move away from all that this time.
Happy with both this year as adore my racers

Up until now, Forza has always become stale while GT kept on lasting and lasting... and lasting some more. GT has more signs of pure craftmanship. Forza's damage is kind of faux, but its online is something thats certainly ahead. Something that shouldn't be overlooked though is the amount of cars in a race. I believe its GT 16 vs Forza 8. I personally think 8 is kind of poor.
Polyphony can work with 2 years of feedback and testing on their crappy netcode. I expect improved online in GT5 Proper, at the very least.
While GT4's handling might be outdated by now, I do feel that GT5 Prologues handling is spot-on. GT5 just needs some added realism like car damage etc, and its at good as it gets imo.
My money is on GT5.Last edited by saturn-gamer; 08-08-2009, 14:48.

I doubt I'll buy either. As a fan of online racing, I don't like the way Forza2 had people in the races with souped-up cars that could thrash even my most powerful cars. The whole vibe of the online game was 'nerdy' .. It's like you have to be clever, not good at racing, to win.
I much prefer racing games where you can't tinker with the cars - and every car in the same category has a chance of winning.
Saying that, even the likes of 'arcadey' PGR, has the problem where a few cars will destroy every other in the right hands. I think as a game, the devs should make sure all the top cars have a good chance of winning a race. It's stupid when it's a choice between two - and all the others are wasted.
I say no to car customisation, because it's a headache and spoils the fun.

unfortunally no room for a racing wheel set up in my living room (and my girl would kill me when I would have a racing seat instead of the couch in the living room...)
I recommend showing your girl who's boss in your house if I were you.

If it has, it turns out to be an arcade racer. But thats the point i'm getting to, this is why I don't play those 'sim' racers online that much. I'd fancy a game of Wipeout or Ridge Racer online.
