    Eidos Dump Cube

It seems as though yet another 3rd party publisher has turned its back on the GameCube...

    eidos dump cube

How long do you think the Cube is going to last? Will Nintendo keep it alive right up to 2005 if needed?

Without looking at the bigger picture this could be interpreted as a fantastic piece of news, Eidos being the epitomy of everything that I despise in gaming today.

It may or may not mean the Cube is dying, but look on the bright side....with more and more ****e Devs throwing in the towel for Nintendo's machine, we could have a brief but glorious gaming renaissance where titles like Viewtiful Joe and Metroid Prime become the norm rather than delicious exceptions.

    Yes, I can dream.

What have Eidos released for the GC? (Not a sarcastic question - I genuinely don't know)

Only thing I can think of is hitman 2, about 6 months later than anyother platform

And Penny-arcade.com have a strip for every situation.....

Regardless how you look at it, it is bad news for the GC. News stories like this doesn't look good to the average consumer. Not quite a Dreamcast exodus yet, but at least in the West it appears to be a sinking ship. While I certainly wouldn't buy Backyard Wrestling for instance, I'm sure Joe Six-pack is going to.

Personally I think the last Eidos game I bought was Commandos 2, a looong time ago. Next Eidos one I buy will probably be Deus Ex 2.

They published Timesplitters 2 as well, but apparently Activision is publishing Timesplitters 3 anyway.

Another company caught in "Gamecube owners don't buy crap" shocker.

Otherwise known as "Gamecube owners also own PS2s or XBoxes, and only bother with their Cubes when something cool comes out".

What do these publishers expect? Releasing un-advertised, late or shoddy ports and offerings on the cube and sell millions of copies?

Wait for the big clearification story to come out later, like all companies they'll want to have their cake and eat it too.

Its probably some stupid negotiation tactic. Still the last Eidos game I bought was Timesplitters and I traded it in. Is it Nintendo's fault too that Tomb Raider sucked?

Eidos? Who cares. They're crap anyway IMO. Like Garibaldi says, they represent what I hate about the industry today. Things like this only reinforce my opinion that the Cube has a higher ratio of good:bad titles than the PS2 and Xbox.
All these developers who are dumping the Cube, try and release something that can stand proudly alongside the Cube's finest titles instead of constant straight ports of 6-month old PS2 titles

And that Penny Arcade strip is great. So true it almost hurts

Eidos have also parted company with Sports Interactive today.

Edios keep the Championship Manager name (likely to be farmed out to a cheaper and ****ter development team) and SI keep the game engine and datbase.

Eidos are cutting back on everything it seems.

And notice how it's the companies in the financial **** that drop the GameCube. Nice scapegoat...
