    D2 Appreciation thread...

Man I love this game... The way you have to hunt animals, the story, the snowsleding, the music...

Its all so great and know one I know has ever or dont know what im talking about.

A shame that this game does not get talked about, its such a great game.

I am interested in getting this, can you play the Japanese version with subtitles? I usually see the Jap version going cheap at a lot of places.

    Cheers,

    Kamaya

There is a US Dreamcast release, which is the version I have. D2 is definitely flawed, but does have a strange appeal.

You need to speak to Treble, self-confessed fan of Warp's D2

I like it too, very atmospheric with some of the most unique gameplay within the genre. The music is quite brilliant, and the scene when you first find the downed plane is extremely scary.

Worth picking up if you are a fan of horror, as this game is quite unlike anything else. I do warn however that it is very difficult to actually 'enjoy', the controls are dodgy, the camera is horrid and there are an incredibly large number of cutscenes (ie, every time you pick up an object - no joke!).

It can also be quite disturbing in places.

By the way, nice spelling in the topic

I was tempted to get it, because in the past I used to buy almost anything that had a Dreamcast label on it.

The scenes where you yank your submachine one out and stick it into some phyto-zombie's snout are probably fun. Then I learned of the story bit about (if my memory rom serves me right) a plane that's being abducted by terrorists and simultaneously gets hit by a meteor!?

That's more than a bit far-fetched. As is the main protagonist in, I believe, high heels and mini-skirt business dress walking in sub zero powder thru the main of the game. Don't yuppie chicks freeze to death as well?

I had the jap ver and completed it fine, even though I didnt know what the hell was going on! Currently I am trying to find the u.s ver...

But at the end the story got pretty ****ed up.

Anyone remember that boss and this angel turned evil it was so cool! She played a violin while you wer fighting her and the boss music was that!

It was some classic peace I have heard before...

D2's alright. I managed to play through the japanese version for the first 2 discs then gave up. There is a lot of dialogue in the japanese version, but the game is pretty straight-forward. The random battles were a lot of fun, I liked the fast paced element to them, was kind of like an RPG at times.

I believe the US version was censored, they edited out one of the opening scenes and also a scene which I think was either at the end of disc 1 or the start of disc 2. One scene was edited because the alien dangled a phallic like symbol in front of a woman's face before ramming it down her throat. The other scene was just a bit of nudity.

Ah D2 now theres a game i haven`t heard of in a while. Played the us version through to the end my thoughts, nice graphics, great atmosphere, good dialogue but i found the actual game in between pretty poor. The boss fights are pretty good though but found the on foot sections repetative and boring. I saw a few us versions go on ebay for about ?15 which ain`t a bad price and is probably worth picking up for that amount.

i got the jap one completed and sold it on to get the Us one jus to understand the story line. Had i knew it would be cut, then id probably of kept it. Still nothing serious was chopped. I think Treble has all 5 different cover of this game am i right?
