    GAME hard up or something?

My local one seems to have taken to selling promo copies now... They had Mini Ninjas, The Ashes, and IL Stormovic for ?25 each.

Probably no more so than selling games marked as "Bundle copy - not for resale" as Gamestation and CEX have been known to do.

Yeah I guess. Still 25 is a rip off.

Most likely the manager is a bit dodgy. Whenever we get promo or bundle copies transferred from another store as preowned stock they go straight in the faulty pile.

            Which store was it?

Gamestation are selling the Forza 2/Viva Pinata "not for resale" games at ?2.99 at the moment and as new stock also.

buying a "new" DS game only to discover a completed save game on it pisses me off.

Seeing "not for resale" bundle games in the no-box bins is fairly common. You also see lots of corner shops that split of multipack crisps/cans despite them saying not to. Anyone know if they actively prosecute against this?

I bought a "new" 360 from Game earlier this year only to find several marketplace games and demos already downloaded onto the hard drive.

I think that's how they come YM... to tempt you into buying them.

Probably just a slightly untruthful store. I can say at the store I work in, we definately don't do anything like that.

As for the 'new' stuff that isn't 'new' that is definately a store-by-store fault. Most new games are new in wrappers until there are only a few left, then it would have to be a placing in wrong drawer fault.

Saw two more overpriced copies of preowned Dead Rising in GAME this aft - one at £24.99, the other £27.99.

                          I don't know if they're hard-up or f*ckin' nuts.

Try Lego Star Wars TCS for ?32.99 or Sega Rally for ?24.99 both pre-owned in the Loughborough store!!

try the pre-owned version of every recent release being only ?2 cheaper than new, i'm almost embarassed to ask customers if they want the preowned version sometimes, and as for the title question, yea, they're doing the best they can [to maintain margins], given there's a recession on.
