    Upgrading a 360 hard drive

    Hello!

My 360 is playing up again. I did the X-clamp fix last time it showed the RRoD but it's starting to freeze on games and finally just on the bootup screen.

If I were to buy a new 360, such as the 250Gb Super Elite, how do I get all the info, game saves and downloaded games from my teeny tiny launch hard drive into the new behemoth-sized drive?

Just done a quick search but couldn't find an appropriate thread. Sorry if there's one already about this kind of thing.

    Thanks in advance!

If you buy the drive seperate it comes with a cable and software to do the transfer. If you buy a brand new 360 you'll need to either crib a cable and disc off someone or email MS and they'll sell you one.

Nobody knows how it will work with the 250GB drives because the disc that comes with the cable only accepts 20GBto120GB transfers, I believe people had the same problem to start with when the 60GB drives were released.

Alternatively, use a Memory Unit to shift your saves. Preferably a 256MB one.

Would you have to then d/l all your map packs again as the majority of packs are 0.5 gb ?.

You can get 512 meg memory units if you want to do it that way.

wasn't there a way to make a 120gb hard disc for cheaper by buying the exact same model as in the elite 360 ones and flashing a copy of the firmware of a drive ?

has anyone done that and is able to use xbox live ?
