I think the form factor of the Go is excellent. Nonetheless it's been a very public failure and one that they might try to distance themselves from.

I actually have a Go, but for reasons stated above, I never buy regular PSP games for it. I have already gotten 5 games free of charge from Sony, as they usually give away some for people who buy it nowadays. But most of the time I spend on it is playing PSone games, which in itself is pretty cool.

I had a Go and the above is the reason I sold it. Also the dual memory areas (built in and m2) caused a couple of issues. i was hoping that GT would play the music on my M2 card but no. Also I couldn't get the Infected mode on Resistance to work because the game save was in the wrong place or somesuch nonsense. AND, the screen is ever so slightly smaller than a 2000. Just smaller enough for it to annoy me lol.

Remains to be seen how they do it but it could be genuinely innovative. Lots of tech companies have been prototyping rear touch panels (MS showed off one).
I think both Nintendo and Sony are aiming to create a console to intentionally make the iphone look old hat by doing things the iphone can't do (or at least won't be able to for a long time)

A beefed up psp slim and lite with 2 decent analogue sticks and a high deff screen would be perfect as far as i'm concerned, you can keep your touch screens for smart phones where there more suited.
Maybe 3g data connection too, although the way the mobile carriers throttle data usage and the cost would make this pretty pointless in the long term for anything other than light browsing.

"The patent explains how previous touch screens caused the “user’s fingers [to] often obscure the part that is to be selected”, so to fix this, users will use a different touch screen, or touch pad, to interact without blocking their view."
GEE. I think we used to have something like that before, what was it called. Hmm. Oh yeah that's right A PAD.

The prototype featured dual analogue so the finished product will likely feature them (unless they're culled as a space saving measure).
Need to be careful they don't require an insane amount of dexterity though. Dual analogue + touchpad(s) will require high levels of independent dexterity from four different fingers (plus 2 more for shoulder buttons)

If they go with both I'd assume most games would go either/or rather than expect both? I guess I'd hope for enough buttons (at least the standard four face buttons and two shoulder) as well as the touch screen itself.
I'm just curious/confused at how intuitive trying to control the action from behind the screen would be, assuming that's where the touch pad ends up being, assuming any of this is true, assuming etc. etc.

Supposedly a video that shows the 'PlayStation Phone'. All I can make out from that video are some of the Android menu options. Assuming that's actually what it is, I'm even more convinced now that this won't be a fully PS branded phone.
