What should I do with a RRoD launch day 360?

Hey.

My 360 died 6 months ago and following the advice on here I stripped it and did the X-Clamp fix.

This got it working for another half a year, but it's RRoDed on me again so I've bought a Super Elite.

This leaves me with an old 360 and power brick.

What should I do with it? Should I eBay it or something?
What have you done if this happened to you?

What was the last Live update you did on it?
Its secondhand value is greater if you haven't updated to the late September patch which killed the homebrew exploit.

^ This was a mandatory update. If you signed into Live after that date, then the console is updated and the exploit hole has been plugged.

A lot of indie shops are fixing RROD machines. Get it fixed and trade it in at Game for something, or sell it as working.

Surely they note down the serial number? Isn't there a penalty for this sort of dishonesty?

My launch 360 finally shuffled off its mortal coil the other day.

I know MS provide a 3 year warranty but I've had (unconfirmed) reports that people have been able to get their machines repaired beyond that. Is it possible to quite the Sales of Goods Act in relation to this, because the RROD fault is clearly a design-related problem and not the fault of the user? Basically the 360 is not fit for purpose; it was designed by a toddler, by the looks of things.

My Elite has just RROD'd... I think I've had enough of the 360 now. It is the biggest pile of crap any hardware manufacturer has released and this is my 4th one in 4 years to suffer the RROD.

Gutted mind, I hadn't used mine since August, so until yesterday when I dusted it off, it didn't have that September update on it. Was planning to have a nice week off work over Xmas playing Borderlands in co-op wish he'd use his PS3 for gaming.

Wondering what the best thing to do now is, get it fixed then sell it on? (it is 28 months old so still under warranty) I think I'm done with the 360 as a console now. Not as if they've been doing any decent games for it lately that aren't on the PS3.

Are you planning to sent it to MS to fix? Cause there is a chance it will come back a little less homebrew friendly.

It definitely has more value than a RROD unit that can't be exploited.

After Xmas the shelves should be more or less clear of exploitable consoles and people will have to start looking to the secondhand market for them. Maybe just hold up a couple of months.
