Thanks, that link let me download it but not run it.. the EBOOT.PBP app is showing in my games folder as corrupted data. Still, better than before.. maybe I can find something to make it run.

edit - tried taking the filename off the end of that link, that took me to a page with a working button but it still seemed to just save it. This is an official download you can do on your PC, right? What's the usual method? Or will it simply not work with a Japanese PSP?

ARSE! I can't download it to the PC and transfer it across because the Playstation Downloader app tells me (in Japanese) it's invalid data. I guess this is also doing some region checking. If I uninstall the PSN downloader I can get an xpd file, but that's a fat lot of use.

I've signed into Media Go with my US account and I can download demos etc, but not this stupid comic reader.

Before I waste a lot of someone's time trying a potential work around, can anyone confirm if they have been able to look at English comics on a Japanese PSP?

I suspect it is actually impossible.

I thought the comics were tied to the PSN account, I downloaded Astro Boy from US PSN with my US account and couldn't read it when I was signed into another region account.

Works same as games you buy for PSP mate. Title is tied to a PSN account and only one account can be active at a time.

Yes, my firmware is up to date - just to clarify, my problem is that I have no way of installing the US or Euro comic reader as the download sites seem to be IP filtered. The Japanese one is installed and works but only for Japanese comics.

The reason I think it won't work at all is because the icon to launch it was already on the XMB, it wasn't added after installing the app. If I can't get the icon for the english version onto mine then it's hopeless.

Is Joe about? He was using a Japanese PSP - have you been able to read any English comics mate?

I seriously doubt Joe would attempt to read a comic written in a language as foul as English!

Lol. I actually did try to get English comics running, but alas it is impossible on a JPN unit.

The latest firmware will ONLY let you install the JPN reader, which as far as I can gather through extensive (well 2 comics) testing will NOT display anything that is not bought from the JPN store.

Likewise the JPN movie and comic stores are IP filtered so I cannot even access them over here in Blighty.

I am comic-less, and unless I go to Japan to D/L the ENTIRE catalogue I fear I shall never have any.

Perhaps the CFW route will offer a work-around, but my 3000 and Go! are legit SCEI firmware, so no cigar here. I shall just have to use my PSPs to play games I suppose.

With the JP comic store having a lockout, anyone know what the deal is with the EU/UK stores? I have both an EU and US account and downloaded the US comic reader, which works fine for US comics. Am I right in thinking that, even if I switch accounts, I won't be able to read UK comics because I had downloaded the US comic reader?

With comics, you are governed by where your PSP comes from. If it's a USA unit then you are USA comics only, which means that if you are not in the USA you h'ain't geting any comics at all.

Well mine's a UK unit and has no problem with USA comics but I think it's because I downloaded the USA comic reader first.

That's odd. You shouldn't be able to access USA comics with a UK unit...

The region locking is the same as everything else on PSP. If my PSP is activated for my us acct then I can read US comics (I have a UK PSPgo).

Also, your movies/comics have separate activation to your games so you can have your PSP activated for UK games and US comics or vice versa.
