    PS3 3.10 Controller Bug

Wasn't sure where to put this thread so any mods can move if they fancy.

Is anyone having a problem with wireless syncing of controllers on PS3 Slim since the 3.10 update.

I have had a trawl around the net and there is lots of mention of it but I can't really find a permanent fix.

Come on Sony a fix update would be nice!

Does it work OK with the cable attached to the PS3?

I've been trying to ascertain if keeping the cable in disables the bluetooth, but can't seem to get any solid answers...

Can you get wired only, official Sony PS3 pads? I don't like mine being semi-wireless...

The problem is a complete pain.

You can turn the console on with the PS button on the pad, the four lights then flash but it doesn't connect and then just switches off the pad. A post on another forum suggested using the reset button on the pad which seemed to sort the problem. However it comes back again.

      Needs a patch I recon...

It seems that this problem relates to slim ps3s only.

Very strange, I have a slim PS3 with the latest firmware since the day it came out and have no sync problems whatsoever with the controller. Sometimes I switch the console on with it other times I'll turn on the console as I pass it pick up the controller and hit the PS button and it connects just fine.

Never had a single sync issue.

Have you tried hard resetting the controller with a pin? There's a little hole on the back of the controller. If you reset it, you might find all the flashing lights stop and then you can resume by pressing the PS button. Only tried this for fat PS3s, but might be worth a try.

              EDIT: You've tried this.

I'm having the same problems since the latest update. Thought it was my pads being low on battery. Last night I tried to sync with one pad which wouldn't connect, then the other, then gave up and switched the system off and left the pads flashing. two minutes later it popped the system back on automatically. Very weird. A fix would be nice! Thsi on top of the trophy syncing bug is making me half regret buying a slim instead of an old 60gb.

I've had this happen with my slim also, only once though. Couldn't sync the controller and when I powered off the PS3, it turned itself back on automatically shortly afterwards. Bit of fiddling around got it synced in the end and it's not happened since.

I'm getting the trophy syncing error on my old 40gb and so is my housemate (old console too) so I think it's fairly universal.

The trophy sync'ing error is a common one. The best advice I know of is to keep trying by pressing X on your profile (in friend list), but at an off-peak time. I had the problem for 3 days, before trying this. I noticed the advice on the official UK PS forums where a technical mod gave the advice whilst also stating that they're in the midst of installing more servers or something.

This sync thing is driving me nuts. I want to be all nerdy and share my Bayonetta trophies with Facebook. However it gets to 62% and hangs foreverer. I finally got it to work at 1am on Saturday. I blame the entire world for playing MW2 at once.
                        Kept you waiting, huh?

I think Sony must think this is a fairly major problem as I have just spoken with customer services and the first thing he said was: "We will be sending out a new replacement PS3 to you"

                          It's coming Monday.

Well I just called up to find out when there would be a patch available. The guy said he hadn't heard of the problem and needed to speak to a product specialist. Within about a minute he was back saying that it was a known problem (which clearly I knew!) and they would have to send a replacement unit out. I asked if this was a little bit drastic and he said this was what they were doing for the problem. They are sending a brand new unit.

Maybe the update has affected the Bluetooth hardware?
