    Sick Saturn/ Supergun hybrid

I don't normally cross pollinate forums but this stuff from neo-geo.com has to be seen by some of you kids....

Basically the guy has managed to fit a neo-geo 1 slot into a broken saturn shell and put nightrider red power lights under the case.

Saurian- if you can manage this put me down for one now....

Hmm neat idea using the psu and ports of the saturn for the MVS mobo. He had to change the controller ports though, I'd have given him mad respect if he'd kept the saturn controller ports.

Technically this is pretty easy to do. Just a bit more time consuming than I could ever be arsed with. The Saturn is a good choice because it's nice and big.

God only knows what you could put in an XBox case. I'm sure a naomi system could fit in there just fine.

-edit- he's using composite, surely to goodness he'd be better off using the RGB from the MVS mobo?!?

The funny thing is that America doesn't have SCART on their TVs...

aparently he's modding some saturn controllers so they work- It'd be easier that way round no?

Nah, the neo sticks use a one pin one input type arrangement, the saturn pads have some multiplexing deviance inside, sure you could rip the inners out of the saturn pads and wire it up to a neo connector, but whats the point why not just use a neo stick.

Doh forgot the yanks only have composite, poor sods.

errr. the yanks have svideo and component too, and component is at least equal and in some cases better than RGB....

well u can easily transcode RGB into component or svideo, though the boxes to do so are pretty expensive.

Component video isn't as good as RGB unless it's progressive scan then again Progressive Scan (non interlaced) RGB is called VGA. If it is then it's due to the decoding, RGB handling.

Still (on topic) it looks nice but it's sad they did that to a Saturn.

I made and MVS system with progressive output to use on my Projector as the scanlines from normal 15khz RGB were to obvious.

Well it was actually the inards of a Keene RGB->YUV trancoder going into a butchered Iscan.

nice playing Pulstar on a 84" screen with no scanlines, though worked out as a very expensive system
