    Sleeping Dogs [PS3/360/PC]

I know this was shown at the Spike 09 Awards but couldn't see any mention of it on the forums. I quite enjoyed Streets of L.A. at the time but New York City was a bug filled piece of sh*t which Activision rushed out for Christmas 2005, good to see it's getting another chance though, the location could also make it quite interesting.

DestructoidI'm not sure why Activision is bringing back the True Crime franchise, and why now. But you know who does? Maria Stipp of Activision Publishing.

"We've been waiting for the right story and opportunity to bring True Crime to a new generation of gamers in 2010," she's quoted as saying in a press release.

"United Front Games has the vision to bring this new undercover game experience to life, where fans will play out their own epic Hong Kong action thriller."

True Crime puts players in the undercover shoes of detective Wei Shen, who is attempting to infiltrate Hong Kong's Triad crime syndicate. Activision is hinting at a moral balancing act, which may have players making tough decisions that could influence the outcome of certain undercover assignments.

True Crime appears to be open world, featuring martial arts, gunfights, drivign, and "acrobatic free-running chases." The game is scheduled for a Fall 2010 release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Yeah glad to see Square have picked this up, was a shame to see a completed game dropped just because it didn't fit in with Activision's new policy of how much they can milk a franchise on an annual basis.

I wonder if that is a reference to Kane and Lynch?

If a mod could change the thread title to Sleeping Dogs, we can keep this one.
Just watched this trailer from last week and looks very good.

Will happily support this, made even sweeter that Activision dropped it really hope it does well for Square Enix.

                      Grand Theft Auto: Hong Kong

Agreed, looks very impressive! Just the kind of game I like. This has been under my radar but after that video it went straight to day-one list.

Because Activision truly are the dicks of the industry?

Lets see what Bobby Kottick said...

“Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing’s Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011. The company also will stop development on True Crime: Hong Kong. These decisions are based on the desire to focus on the greatest opportunities that the company currently has to create the world’s best interactive entertainment experiences.
                          Grade A douche.

Now lets see what Square Enix US boss said.

Obviously the game was originally True Crime: Hong Kong from Activision. I can’t speak to why they let that go. I’m not going to speculate on their behalf. All I know is, they’ve gotta be crazy. Because this game is just fantastic. The scale and scope of the game really encompasses all of everything you’d want to do in Hong Kong. The acting, the story, the characters are very deep.
Seriously hope it sells a few million and does well for Square.

It strongly reminded me of Yakuza. I have zero interest in GTA because frankly, I don't think they play that well but Yakuza had a solid combat engine and if this is better than it suits me.
