How to catch up?

If I loose the thread with a game, I generally never get back into it. As mush as I'd love to start from scratch, I don't have the tiem and patience. Because of this I've lost a good few games, like Okami and Wind Waker.

Wind Waker I regret, because I loved that game and can't actually remember why I stopped. Okami on the other hand just dragged the **** on and needed to be put down.

The fact they were both so text-heavy in dialog/script doesn't help.

This happens to me with most games it not really the games in is the gamer(me). I end up playing a game a good part of the way throught the game and then i will just stop i think i just get bored of the game i mean take the first Uncharted i've still no finished it having bought it on the day it come out i have lost count on how many time i re started that game i know i have to finish it i will i promise, also i have yet to finish Fables on my Xbox i know i'm at the last boss but hell still not finished that yet maybe i will finish that that when i have found my Xbox

I too have left wind waker halfway and now can't remember all the neat tricks with the weapons or transformation. I'm sure I'll go back to it eventually but it's always hard to pick up and old games versus buying a new one as the former needs you to 'knuckle down and work' to get back into it, a little like exam revision!

im shamed i stopped wind waker mid way through i loved the game, i think it was a really hot summer at the time and it felt wrong playing , i think its better to play long adventure and rpgs in the winter, as its cold dark outside and you can loose yourself in them,it was a shame wind waker didnt get the wii play control treatment, i will complete it before the next wii zelda tho i promise

I didn't play Persona 4 past the first save point. >_>

I think Bayonetta may conquer my short attention span though.

To be fair, it is something like 4 hours before you get to the real gameplay in P4. Worth sticking with though.

I had the same problem with Fable 2. I stopped playing it in 2008 and started playing it again last weekend. Took me a good 5 hrs to get back on track as i had no clue what i was doing or where i was supposed to go. This was made easier by the mission screen and map with waypoints

I'm the same with the Twighlight Princess. About 20 hrs in and have no clue what to do??? I tried reading a guide to what i remember but it didn't help as i didn't know where i was up to. Some place that looks like a mine town.

Done it heaps of times tho, and RPG's are the worst for obvious reasons. Guides like those at gamefaqs as someone mentioned do help in most cases tho

I used the gamefaqs guide idea and that works excellently where the narrative is explained in a sep file.

Im the same, got loads of games i played but never completed, probably being Sabeteur the most recent as i have since moved onto Darksiders atm

Same with Dead Space and Silent Hill.


Time restraints bein another massive factor.

Lost Oddessy is a game I will be honest about, I've never completed - despite restarting the game on about 3 different 360's - at some point, something else comes up and I have to drop it and eventually its forgotton.
Some games (recently DragonAge) have a recap of recent events on your save files which helps me put my memory on the right track - but in most cases I just have to restart the game...

I don't see why people would think its work or a struggle to finish something if it seems they don't enjoy it. Just because a game is generally thought of as 'good', if you don't enjoy it, don't force yourself to play it. Don't shelve it either, just flog it and buy games you do enjoy! ^_^

Sometimes you're just in the wrong mood for some games or you get a new shiny game that's a bigger priority to play.

Or it's the wrong time. I'd heard a lot of good things about Mass Effect and started it late 2008. I am a fan of the Bioware Sci-fi titles but can't be arsed with fantasy type stuff although the mechanics are the same underneath so knew it would appeal so seeing that ME2 was on the way and available at a reasonable price I made an effort to complete it.
I agree with kernow though that life is too short to force yourself to play through something.

It wasn't that i couldn't finish it, it was the fact that i was living in the middle east and along with Fable 2, it was one of a few games i was in the middle of then didn't play for a year. Fable 2 i have managed to get back into, but for one reason or another, i'm just struggling trying to remember what to do next in ZTP. Collecting shiny bauble things rings a bell tho

I'll give it a boot over the weekend and post a Q&A to see if anyone can help as i remember really enjoying this

It actually look me a long time to finish TP. I'd get bursts of interest then not feel like playing it for a while.

As much as they're great games, there are only so many times getting the boomerang can be exciting.
