US DLC to Canadian games

Is it possible to download DLC from the US store to Canadian games? As far as I know the discs themselves are no different from the US ones, but I may be mistaken. Or do I have to open a Canadian account and get a Canadian PSN card?

The C in NTSC-U/C stands for Canada...

I know, but since there are different stores for each, along with different cards, I just wanted to make sure.
