Majin The Fallen Realm (PS3/XBOX 360)

Some hours ago, Bandai Namco Games announced they'll be publishing Game Republic's latest PS3 and XBOX 360 game entitled "Majin The Fallen Realm" - title is still provisory according to NBGI. Release will occur sometime this year, quite possibly during the Spring (in Japan).

I've posted some of the in-game screens and artwork issued together with this announcement @ Eastern Mind. Also, be sure to check the early trailer from GamesCon 2009. Surely one of this year's most promising titles in my view. What are your thoughts?

That look really nice, that artwork in particular is beautiful. I hope it's gonna be something like Folksoul, Demonsouls or Fable and not like Ico or Zelda.

Still not that convinced about Game Republic though. Their games seemed to be ok but lacking something.

Looks good but I wish games developers would stop using fades to black in their trailers. They are games, not films and they are better than films often because of that.

          Stop fading to black already!

Technically speaking, even a game trailer is a piece of film, Paddy!

Namco have announced a Summer release for this in NA, change of name also.
              Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom.
              Press release gubbins.

              (March 2, 2010)
Leading video games developer and publisher NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., today announced Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, a riveting action-adventure game for the Xbox 360? video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation?3 computer entertainment system. Featuring an engaging storyline of enduring friendship, the game takes players through a seamless world where an agile protagonist and a powerful AI-controlled monster must forge an alliance to battle enemies, solve puzzles and conquer challenges. Developed by Game Republic, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom is scheduled to be released throughout North America this summer.

In Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, a once thriving society is suddenly engulfed by a dark force that nearly eradicates all of its inhabitants. Many tried to reclaim their fallen homeland but were annihilated by strange warriors who rose from the darkness. A hundred years later, a cunning young outsider is drawn to this forsaken kingdom where he encounters and befriends Majin, a mysterious monster-like being with incredible strength. Now in an effort to restore the empire, the two set out to uncover Majin?s forgotten past and the secrets that lie within the ancient land.

Wrapped in an emotional journey of courage and respect, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom takes players on a majestic adventure as a cunning individual who must rely on his agility to triumph over increasing obstacles. What he lacks in might, his AI-controlled companion makes up for with his towering size and brawn. Majin can assess the current gameplay conditions and act accordingly or follow commands with the press of a button. As players progress through the game's lush environments, Majin will continue to grow and acquire additional abilities that will provide access to previously obstructed areas.

Majin and the Forsaken Kingdomredefines co-op AI gameplay by delivering an accessible experience that offers the perfect mix of stealth, action, platform navigation and combat that is designed to keep the journey gripping and immersive. Though each character has their own objective, teamwork is essential for survival as the hero and Majin must fight in tandem to persevere over any challenge that lies in their path. This complementary relationship will only continue to deepen and evolve as the story unfolds.

              Should be good.

This is still looking interesting to me, it'll have to do in place of a follow up to Folklore which will probably never happen.

It looks impressive, although his big montser friend has more than a passing resemblance to the Gruffalo.

Demo went up yesterday for this, quite a nice wee action game. You can command Majin to attack, interact with pushable walls and get him to open large doors.
                      Majin now fwend!
Will pick it up when it comes out

gave it a try...had this pre-ordered as I liked the look of it.
                        cancelled that now tho sadly.

the voices are almost enough on their own tbh...the monster is the worst voice acting ive ever heard, annoying and more stilted than resi evil!

gameplay seems ok, tho the majin seems to do most of the cool stuff and you just point him and button mash battle a few enemies while he does it.

may pick it up when its 1/3 price at xmas...

liked the design but somehow the Marjins voice was more kiddy/dopey than the style suggested and that was a shame. demo deleted may get if cheap enough in the future

Yeah its a bit too kid friendly. It'll likely turn out to become a feel good conclusion too (also because the creature can't die in the demo, he just runs 'out of power'). So its probably not like TLG at all.

The game doesn't seem to be easy however. You can die fairly quickly if you're not paying attention and your character is weak in battle.

But it looks to become a 20hr action adventure game, and since its from Game Republic I might believe that. They don't make em like these anymore. At least not on the HD consoles.

These are the Folklore peeps, right? Like the look of this.

Looks a little like Kameo mixed with Folklore.
