    Recommend me a mech game?

I loved Steel Battalion and Line of Contact, now, I know I can't have anything quite like them but what could I get for Playstation, PS2, PS3, Dreamcast, Gamecube or Saturn with a heavy customisation element and more simmy than arcadey?

Until Steel Batallion I was a mech noob and I suppose I still am so I seek guidance!

Thinking about more recent stuff the only one I can think of is Armored Core 4 which is on the PS3. It was good, it has customisation options etc, though it felt alot more streamlined compared to the earlier ones.

Theres lots of love for Chromehounds on here but thats 360 only...

ummm... thats all i can think of at the moment

...and its raison d'etre has now been skanked.

Not sure if this counts in your interpretation as a mech game, but a pretty good game nonetheless:

You play Sanjuro Makabe, a Mobile Combat Armor (MCA) pilot and Commander in the UCA Secur

The Armored Core games sounds right up your street - they are massive on the customisation, often described as the 'Gran Turismo of mech games'. At first your mech will seem like a hulking beast, but towards the end of the games they will be boosting around the arenas in intense firefights.

I haven't played any of the current gen games, but I enjoyed AC2 Another Age, AC3 and Silent Line on the PS2. I understand that the recent games have updated the controls to be more user friendly, but I didn't have any issue with the old games tbh.

AC5 is due for release this year.

Dunno if you like gundam or not, but Gundam Vs Gundam Next was pretty popular in HongKong when i went last year. (I heard it's also popular in Japan too)

They ported it to psp as Gundam Vs Gundam Next Plus, one bad thing though is the wifi on it SUCKS. Even local wifi lags really badly.

              Still good game.

I heard it's coming out as a PS3 psn game too, not sure when that is though.

              UMD only for psp.

Not into Mech games, but does Transformers on PS2 count? Quite a good game by Melbourne House. Normal shootery with platformy/flyey bits.

Gun Griffon Blaze (ps2) is the best mech game i have played - fast, blistering OST, and a real challenge. Steel Batallion is great too but a bit clunky. Mech assault for the xbox is very good too.

I could never get into any of the Armoured core games (dispite [playing them all). Chromehounds for the 360 is quite nice as well

If you go for Armored Core on the 360 or PS3, get Armored Core 4 rather than Armored Core For Answer.

I can't properly articulate why but I really loved AC4 but really didn't get on with ACFA.

                      that is all.

Like Prinny said, it's been majorly skanked now. Sega shut down the servers, apparently to support 'titles with a bigger user base'. You know, like Sega Superstar Tennis.

Cheers guys. I actually have Chrome Hounds but no 360 to play it on lol. AC4 is looking like my best option. I'll see how much it is new and stick an ad in the wanteds as well.

                          Muchas gracias Amigos.
