    PS2 Outrun C2C & SP differences?

Can anyone confirm whats different between these 2, I've heard that SP got reprogrammed by Sega and they removed the PSP/PS2 linkup feature for unlocking stuff that was in C2C but is that it, are there any extras in SP or is it graphically a bit better than C2C

A couple of things offhand I remember is that network play was removed from OutRun 2SP but gained force feedback wheel support. For what it's worth the servers for the PS2/PSP games have long since closed down so network play isn't available anyway.

The animations at the end of the courses (i.e. volcano erupting and space shuttle launching) were also absent from from C2C but included in 2SP. 2SP also had a couple of extra unlockable music tracks.

Whilst I'm not 100% certain, I would imagine you would be correct about PS2/PSP linkup being removed as the PSP game was not launched in Japan.

Cheers for that, seems like it's the definitive PS2 version then, I also found some reference to it having a smoother frame rate than C2C as well, not sure how true that is though, will probably end up buying it anyway. Thinking about it I've probably bought more versions of this game than any other title.

Sega themselves reprogrammed SP. It is smoother graphically (than the xbox version also), supports 480p, and I believe it has redone music too. There is no linking to the PSP version as already said there is no JPN PSP version.

Definitely the definitive version IMO, the PSN and XBLA version of OutRun Online Arcade come nowhere near it.

Expensive mind, if you can find it.
        Kept you waiting, huh?

Is it valuable then? I'm sure I ended up with 2 copies at launch and one of them must be still sealed.

I thought S0L said that they did it themselves for Sega Japan. I remember him posting about it at the time. I guess it's besides the point.

I don't think that's true. I'm almost certain that Sumo did it.

If it is the 1st-print Ltd Edition, and sealed then I'd expect to get £50+ for it.

Sumo reprogammed their own game? Seems like an odd thing to do. I'm quite sure it was reprogrammed by Sega hence the 11-month delay between it and the PAL version.
It doesn't seem right that it would take a whole 11 months to take away online support and add in force feedback and the unlockables from the PAL version after all. I can't actually remember why I think it was reprogrammed and I'm not 100% positive that I am correct, but Pharfetchd seems to think the same thing.

The reprogrammed by Sega thing was just something I'd heard in the past on another forum, also the scans of the front and back covers to SP that I've seen don't mention it being programmed by Sumo or have their logo anywhere unlike the C2C cover so I just assumed it was true.

Not that it really matters either way, just wanted to know if it was regarded as being the better version of the two releases, thanks for the help in clearing up the differences for me anyway lads, appreciate it

One last question which I'm assuming you'll know J0e, does SP work fine with a JPN BC 60gb PS3, have heard that C2C freezes on PAL PS3 's but I'm assuming thats maybe because the PS2 side of things isn't 100% hardware.

Surley the original Xbox version of Outrun 2 is still the diffinitive home version of the game? It controls better and dosent have the horrible bumper car style collisions of all the the versions. Id rather take a quality game that plays well over all the added fluff that came with the later "upgrades".

VGI claim it was reprogrammed by SEGA Japan

A logo splash screen during loading says "in cooperation with Sumo Digital" or something and I'm pretty sure that's the only mention of them in the game. You're given the impression that it's very much a product of SEGA.

Runs perfect on my early-model PS3 btw.
