    Twisted Metal PS3 2011

GamesRadar+ takes you closer to the games, movies and TV you love.

It was alluded to in TM: Head On and if David Jaffe is to be believed we might finally get an installment this generation. To me the PS3 is where Sony's hardware is finally suitable for the franchises' potential so it's been weird that it's taken so long. Going off this time frame though we're likely looking at an E3 reveal.

100% Awesomeness. Would go right up my most wanted list

VIII? As in eight? Have there really been eight of them?

I only played World Tour I think, but enjoyed it.

It's the eighth Twisted Metal but not sure in 'main cannon' terms as some fans consider 3 & 4 as spin offs as a different developer worked on them. By that term Small Brawl and Head On are fine. I'd just call it 8 for now for ease

I'm such a n00b. I'd completely ignored this game series, remembering how crap the original game was on 3do... Oh dear, wrong game Brad (just realised this a couple of minutes ago)! I think it's safe to say I have never ever played a single Twisted Metal game. About time I did I guess!

Surely it's taken so long because the last several games have been
total commercial flops. The same will happen to this one regardless of who is involved.

I ignored it too. I played it on PSone moons ago and thought it was ok, but nothing special. Seems to have a lot of fans, mind.

Seems to be very popular in the US, largely ignored over here.

Do remember it seemed to constantly have adverts in EGM for ages.

World Tour was amazing, the array of vehicles, the locations. Boss fights were grand especially with Dark Tooth at the end and the co-op was serious amounts of fun. Basically if they bring back the magic of World Tour and include a very comprehensive online co-op it will be a success.

Now if only I could get a remake of ESPN Extreme games from the PSone...

Head On was an alright recap but not best suited to the PSP. TM: Black was a great game, sadly trimmed because of 9-11. I didn't get a chance to try out the online version but as a primarily multiplayer series it's been begging for an update for years.

Pretty much, though I think vig8 came later.

It did indeed, Vigilante 8 was unfairly slated as being a ripoff of Twisted Metal. I really liked Vigilante 8 though.

Indeed, I liked V8 more even though it had some wacky rubber car physics and was a bit buggy and slow. It always felt like you were driving tin cans on wheels in Twisted Metal and don't forget the crippling censorship of Black in Europe too
