    GAME shutting down 43 shops

12 GAME stores and six Gamestation outlets, plus all 25 concessions in Debenhams stores.

Don't know why the smiley is needed, I don think 247 people losing their jobs is anything worth smiling about even if it is THE EVIL GAME!!!!!!

In other words, the 'you will not close stores' thing they agreed to when they bought out Game has finally expired.

Feel sorry for the staff, but \o/ otherwise, I hope they fold.

So if a crack house got shut down you'd mourn the loss of the workers jobs there too? 'Course not. And of course I hope they find new jobs

Although I did go in there other day to get an optical cable (as it was the closest shop to where I'd parked) and the guy hadn't heard of such a thing and tried to sell me a PS3 component cable.

I think it's a little bit unfair comparing GAME to a crackhouse! After all, people in crackhouses usually have better personal hygiene.

I'm just joking! People loosing their jobs is not funny.

The crackhouse to GAME is hilarious, course I wouldn't give a **** about a crackhouse.
It is as abigsmurf said GAME said they wouldn't be doing this now they are. I'm not a GAME fan from they way they have been managed I just think the smiley was a bad idea. Also could have been avoided if your first post actually showed some respect rather than solely posting a little yellow face

Good grief. I have removed it.

As an aside, the article is about GAME closing stores, not X number of jobs being lost. i.e. the emphasis is on the company, rather than those involved with the running of said company.

I'll not say anymore for fear of offending your sensibilities further.

Huge overreaction to the smiley if you ask me.

Swindon has got two Game stores (one big, one small), one Debenhams concession, and one Gamestation. If it affects Swindon, my guess is the big Game store and Gamestation will remain. At least I hope Gamestation will stay because their trade-ins have worked out great for me since getting into trading in games a year or two ago and the staff are nice.

Oh FFS, I really don't know why the f**k I bother....am leaving it as this.
At the end of the day, say all you want now but it would have been better said in your original post.
Now I will take my overreaction out of this thread.

I can't say I'm surprised, in Stevenage there are 2 GAME's and a Gamestation within 30 seconds walk of each other. Never made much business sense to me....

Its a shame for people to lose their jobs, and its also a shame that high street stores are starting to disapear as even though i do 90% of my shopping online i do like to browse occasionally. That said it makes sense, here in Southampton we have 3 Game stores, a GameStation and another Game in Debenhams, which is just overkill if you ask me.

I have no idea what a Debenhams concession is and didn't even see the smiley so imagine how out of the loop I'm feeling.

Sounds like a lot of shops to close though. A symptom of the slow death of non-virtual specialist retail?
