Can you play it doing twosies? On a train? In 3D? I think not.

Seriously though, why would any serious gamer buy a street fighter game for a mobile device. As some people have mentioned above, it's a disaster and awkward to control, as well as wrecking your buttons.
I see they've added on the bottom screen the option to do special moves with one press, not good.
I suppose it's nice eye candy though.

Now this gents. SSFIV 3DS can run in (I've made up the names..) beginner or pro mode.
Beginner mode enables the screen buttons to facilitate easy supers or ultras.
Pro mode only allows buttons.
Over multiplayer (incl. online) you can decline people because they have beginner mode enabled if you choose.
I take this from Ono's recent interview with Kotaku. (I can link later if I can be bothered..)
The issue with the buttons? Yeah, I don't have much of an argument against that.
Other than Dogg Thang's point:
Can you play it [360 or PS3 version] doing twosies? On a train? In 3D? I think not.

Why play any game on a handheld? The portable aspect is a big draw for some. You may not be into handheld games and that's cool but it's rare I get to play games at home, on my sofa, with my arcade stick, in 1080p. And I'm not alone. So for people like me, bringing games to a handheld is a good thing.

I'm not saying I'm not into handheld games at all, Ghost Trick has barely been out of my DS recently.
The issue I have is with the practive of taking games from the home consoles and moving them to the handhelds even when the design of the game isn't suited to handheld play. SF4 is a game based around tight control and high framerate, and I fear that the 3DS version is going to lose the aspects that made that game so good in the first place.
I'm of the opinion that it's better to design your game for your target platform from the ground up. Make a 3DS game that suits the hardware rather than trying to shoehorn in one that doesn't.
I expect the review scores for this (and possibly DOA as well) will agree with me.

I play SSF2 on my PSP quite often. I like playing SF when travelling as I can just jump in and out and it's still extra practice sessions that I wouldn't have if I didn't play it.
3DS is hardly an iPhone. It's got a dpad and six buttons, and as long as the dpad isn't as bad as the original PSP, we should be fine.
If I got a 3DS, I imagine SSF4 would be one of the first games I get on it, if only to reignite the relationship(we're separated at the moment), but I'm pretty sure I'll eat my words when it turns out the dpad's crap

Yeah, Billy, I quite enjoy SF Alpha 3 on my PSP too. I can't pull off moves that I could back on the bigger consoles so there's no doubt the system affects the game and yet, nevertheless, I find it fun to dip in and out of. And actually, considering the system, it doesn't play too badly at all. Whatever they changed between PSP Darkstalkers and this in terms of how the moves are recognised made a huge difference.
Oh, and Tekken Dark Resurrection works brilliantly on PSP too.
