Agreed. It's a free market but an overpopulated one in light of the dwindling crowd of importers. Selling on cheaper second-hand games is a good idea, although it'd be reliant on the specialist knowledge of a small group of Western NTSC-J players/collectors to sell anything beyond copies of stuff like Radiant Silvergun, which would still command a premium price anyway.

If that means playing more games in a language I understand and saving money buying domestic versions then that suits me just fine

Just looking at my shelves, my Asian 360 (3rd one) and collection of £50 JPN titles makes me and my wallet glad I don't fit your definition of a 'hardcore' importer

        Elitism much.

Surely, anyone with Buzz! on their PSN profile shouldn't be casting aspersions like this?

Anyway...I agree that the OP has probably missed the boat by a good 5 years or so. Nearly everyone imported when I joined the forum, and the type of games that were popular reflected this. In fact I'm pretty sure PAL games weren't even allowed to be reviewed for the site back then. How times have changed...

Yes I do agree with people that I'm a little late to the party for just selling imported games (mainly 2nd hand games for us), but we will also sell anime, manga related merchandise, which I think is still doing ok. We will also be offering a game finding/Japan auction bidding service, which so far seems like quite a few people are interestd. With this remember its not just games, it can be anything you want from Japan or even Hong Kong/China.

So just selling imported jp games is probably not the best business op, but I think with all the other products/services we will sell, I think we will be successful. Maybe not make lots of money like PA & YA, well who knows? But we will be successful.....

So if someone comes around with a game I should refuse to let them play it?

I have said before that Buzz! was bought by the Mrs. when we had visitors over Xmas. Likewise the boy bought over 007 and Sacred 2 to play. Every other game on that list is NTSC-J.
              Kept you waiting, huh?

If you were really hardcore you would play them on a different profile. You're mid range at best

I guess me now owning a couple of non-japanese games takes me off the hardcore list.
Which is better: NTSC-U HotD Overkill or [apparently censored] NTSC-J HotD Overkill ...hmm...

JP Bionic Commando: Rearmed is censored too, which I don't mind, but it still hasn't recieved a Trophy patch like the other versions.

Well considering Hardcore is described as the following:

unswervingly committed; uncompromising; dedicated: a hard-core segregationist.

I'd say that yes, as soon as you own one non-Japanese title you are no longer a hardcore importer of Japanese games. You may still be a hardcore gamer, but you no longer have 100% dedication to a single region, which makes you no longer hardcore.

If you can borrow somebody's account with the UK version you can get the update, which'll make the JPN version Trophy compatible.

Turned into a 'who's a hardcore gamer' thread! Anyway thanks for all the replies, some have given me good ideas, some not so much, but I'll try to make it a good place to shop for everyone.

Dont forget your PSN/Wii/Xbox Live redeemable codes, they always good for JPN DLC/Games/Virtual Console exclusives. People always flock to good, quick emailed redeemable codes.

If you have access to the HORIStore you could make a killing with the VLX sticks if you're quick.
