Super Dimension Game Neptune, a console RPG starring consoles

By Compile Heart, who someone might know for Record of Agarest Wars.
Not much is known at this stage except that the game will be set in a world called Geimugyokai (Game industry) and there are four goddesses, Purple Heart (called Neptune), Green Heart, Black Heart, White Heart.
The last three goddeses are based on the X360, PS3 and Wii respectively, so the first is based on...well, everyone is speculating a Sega console.

Neptune (the game) will also feature characters inspired by other softhouses like Nippon Ichi and Gust and the story sees the four goddessed fighting the evil goddess ?Majekonnu? a name derived from how R4-like carts are called.

The game is scheduled for the PS3 only right now.

Siliconera has an incredibly short teaser up.

Please keep the Gust and N1 cameos to a minimum for this. I don't want to have had to play 15 different RPGs to appreciate this. There're too many crossovers around at the moment.

Still, if they do keep it as a parody of the gaming industry it has potential.

Well, the softhouse characters will represent the software house, not the single characters from a certain game/series from that company.

So a spiritual sibling to Segagaga then?

Haha, this sounds awesome! Yeah, definitely reminiscent of Segagaga...I wonder who the protagonist is.

            No. Standard RPG fare.

Siliconera has a bunch of screenshots and some art for all three goddesses, Green Heart of Leanbox, Black Heart of Raystation and White Heart of Ruii.
Neptune/Purple Heart is a normal girl appearing in this world during the crysis and she has to fight monsters.

              Short trailer introducing softhouse mascots

Compile Heart, Idea Factory, Gust, Nippon Ichi...and Sega. Now I really want to see a Sega-tan.

              And here's the official site.

The only problem with Compile Heart/Idea factory is their own games aren't all that great or distinctive which puts a dampener on their mascots.

Opening screenshot about a personified Wii showing her mhmm...plug ports.
Bringing console porn to a whole new level, now with monster tentacles.

Because a heroine can't be one without a transformation sequence

I wonder if it will ever reach English-speaking shores.

                      That looks really nice.

Any word on when it's out?

End of July in Japan, distributed by Sega. I wonder if they will publish the game themselves or sell the right to Atlus/Marvelous/NISA for a US/EU release. If they even plan to release it in the west.

Just hope Ghostlight don't get it.

whether this gets a western release probably relies on how busy Atlus and NISA's schedules are. NISA will have Ar Tonelico 3 to keep them busy for a while but Atlus only have minor titles to localise (and they've released lots of crossover stuff too).

Let's hope it gets released it gets better support than the UK version of Agarest. The US has been getting all kinds of free DLC to make the game easier!

                            edit:
                            what abigsmurf said, basically.
