third strike or one of the streetfighter vs snk series? if I was to buy one on JP import which one would be most worth my while as a all-rounder?

    Cheers!!

I really enjoyed Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Usual Capcom gameplay but with all the Marvel characters too. Endless fun is to be had teaming up bizarre combinations of superheroes

Not a huge fan of the genre, but Third Strike really grabbed me

Third Strike is all you need.

        Alpha 3 possibly.

Oh and King of Fighters: Dream Match '99 is also worthy as it's a port of KOF98 which is still the best in the series.

The VS games are fairly tame compared to the delights you can have with SF3 - Third Strike.

If youre after a really deep, and technical fighter you cant go wrong with 3rd strike. However, Alpha 3 is my favorite SF game. Lots of characters, 3 isms for each character and is just a complete attacking game.

                  i'd say it's a tie between Super turbo (ssf2X) and 3rd strike

                  CVS2 is just bad.

PERSONALLY.... my favourite is the wonderful Garou: Mark Of The Wolves. Easy to get into, and deep. It's SNKs answer to SF3. I find it easier to play...
Last Blade 2 is a very underrated game. It's beautiful looking, and has a really nice combat system.
SF3:3rd Strike's an outstanding game, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that. SFA3's very good too.
I'm not sure about the Dreamcast coversions of KOF games. Maybe you should hit some reviews, as I never tried them.
Capcom Vs SNK 2 is a hell of a lot of fun, it must be said. I enjoyed it more than a lot of games.
I'd certainly pick up all of the above, if you can. Maybe get SSFIIX as well.

Alpha 3 is my favourite, all the greatest characters, heavy soundtrack and gets the balance between technical and accessible spot-on.

I haven't played the first Capcom VS SNK. Marvel VS Capcom 2 is lots of fun if you're playing with casuals or people who don't normally play 2D fighters, but it lacks depth, so might get boring in the long-run.

King of the Fighters '99 Dream Match (aka KoF '98 ). I think it's just the most varied and polised fighter on the system.

Mark of Wolves would come in 2nd and SF3: Third Strike isn't bad either.

I've always thought Alpha and Vs series were muck.

i would say alpha 3 ,third strike and super streetfighter 2x for matching service from the capcom side.
the snk games are good as well but i play them on mvs so can't comment on the dreamcast ports(tho i imagine they are pretty much the same)

                              I can't decide between SF3:Third Strike or SFA3...

But very recommended in any case is Garou: Mark of the Wolves (although the Neo version is superior), KOF: Dream Match '99 and the very underrated Last Blade 2. Cappy Vs SNK 2 is also pretty good. Don't bother with Guilty Gear X, just get XX on PS2.
