Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg

Who else is looking foward to this game? The game looks like a lot of fun and the (early) demo I played was also good. And it is by Sonic team I dont expect anything as good as NiGHTS but it should keep me busy over Christmas.

    Sleeper hit maybe?

this is gonna be the next game i buy, but i have to wait for the japanese version. (unmodded cube)
(whats up with all the cube stuff coming to america first these days )
i dont know if i'd term it a sleeper hit though...i thought loads of people were looking forward to this.
love the style of the graphics and music, i trust sonic team to come through with the gameplay.

I'm not sure, my worry from the demo is that it could get far too repetitive. Probably one I'll pick up later when I see it cheap 2nd hand.

        Personally I'm worried.

I was really looking forward to this but EGM mag in the U.S gave it an average of 7.5/10 and IGN has given it 7.7. It seems to be repetitive according to both reviews and a bit on the erm.. how can I say it, kiddyish side? Now I'm sincerely hoping of course this is just nonsense and another example of clueless American's who don't get it, much like PN.03, but I have this sinking feeling that I'm going to be disappointed this time.

I thought it was great to see a colouful, brash platformer for a change after the darker tones of R&C, Blinx, etc. I can see this being a Wario World kinda game, good fun whilst it lasts but nothing earth shattering.

          I could be wrong though.

3 points away from 8 isn't exactly a bad score though. IGN also only gave Monkey Ball an 8.3 which seems a little low considering some of the stuff they've given 90+

Just don't even look at IGN's scores. They are so random it's not even funny. Anyone who can give Starfox 9.0 and Eternal Darkness 9.6 (even if you loved ED very very few games ever deserve a 9.6 and ED isn't one of them) and the likes of PN03 5.7, can't be taken seriously.

yeah, I don't really trust ign review scores.

remember when ign's dreamcast section was actually pretty good? That seems like years ago now. Well, I guess it was. It went to crap when they started insider.

I'm very much looking forward to teh Hatcher, but I can't decide whether to wait for the jpn version or not.

I will know in two week time once it arrive from DVDBOXOFFICE.

I think it will be looking fun, but I got no idea if I will like it or not. But I enjoyed Sonic Adventure on DC.

Havin read the IGN review, he seemed to criticise very little, other than the "dodgey" theme to the game, the music and repetetivity. But said it was a really good game, I'm still hopeful of this, Sonic Team's (the proper one) first platformer since Sonic Adventure back in 98/99 isn't it?

Why can't that score be taken seriously? Most magazine reviews gave it 6/10s, so that's about right in my eyes.

ED I feel deserves a score around that mark, such a polished, brilliant game. But yeah, Starfox is terrible and patronising. And doesn't even warrant a look.

PNO3? It got good reviews in Europe ( 7 - 8 ) but got slated in America...

IGN's Hatcher reveiw seemed dodgy to me. They were really struggling to get past the "kiddy" visuals, but they kept coming back to it. Damn joyless Americans.

Oh- and ED is great but no way is it 9.6

Not really, I havent seen many good reviews for it. I think Edge has given it the best review from what Ive seen. Personally I loved the game and would give it 8 or 9.

yeah, I'll give it a look.

I think Sonic Team should also remake NiGHTS for the GC...
