No interest in the multiplayer, so I was pretty down on this but from that the single player sounds cool. +1 pre-order!

Doubt it. I'm still getting the impression this is AC2.5. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't any modern-day stuff in there at all. The press release barely mentions it.
It does sound as if they've put some amount of effort into the multiplayer. Whether it turns out as bad Ubi or good Ubi remains to be seen... at least they've proved they can rush-release a sequel or spinoff and still have it be fairly good, bugs aside (GRAW 2 for one).

Yeah, I'm also impressed. I didn't think much of Brotherhood, but the Eurogamer preview, the CG trailer and now this have me very interested indeed. Ubi do seem to be pretty much the only mega-publisher who can churn out sequels at a rapid clip yet still throw in something genuinely worth waiting for.

Here's a look at the single player mode, which contains some spoilers I guess but there is some gameplay info in there
Basically they have sped up the combat a bit, you are rewarded for attacking first instead of waiting around for enemies to attack so you can counter them. Because of this, enemies are more aggressive and you can be attacked by multiple enemies at the same time instead of one. You can also disarm weapons like before and then toss them at enemies, video showed a big axe being thrown into the chest of a heavily armored guy. Horses will play a bigger part, they are letting you ride them in towns now and you can use them for various things like combat or quick escapes.

I struggle to think of any point at which they had the opportunity to become really annoying. The horse controls weren't perfect, but they were generally very, very good. Red Dead Redemption, Shadow of the Colossus and Assassin's Creed are pretty much the big three when it comes to this sort of thing. Mount and Blade is bubbling under, too.

Just noticed a special edition of this at Play.com (?69.99 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions).
Also, if you pre-order the PS3 version of the game (everywhere, not just Play.com) you get access to the multiplayer beta when it begins.

Some single player gameplay footage is out, I like the customisation of fellow assassins

There's only gonna be like 4 characters to use on multiplayer for standard edition peeps?
This is the Officer:
With his dark uniform, the Officer merges with the shadows to watch and stalk his prey; just one stealthy but powerful attack is enough to finish his target. Your enemies won’t see you coming.Last edited by Adam; 28-08-2010, 12:00.
