I see, I guess there is some convienience in building in a proper party chat system like the 360 has. As I don't really want to be going round muting everyone to be honest.

Yeah, there's no private chat in the PS3 at all unless it's built into the party system of a game.

They've been promising it for ages and haven't really given us an indication of why it's so hard to do. I assume it's a resource thing, but then they've reduced the footprint of the OS a HUGE amount over the last few years.

Actually sounds alright. The discounted stuff is yours to keep, the only things you lose are the free games you get on a month by month basis (Which is understandable), and they reactivate if you resubscribe.

I'm still not sure about this to be honest, mind you I say this as somebody who's not interested in multiplayer games and yet pays for Xbox LIVE.

The MAJOR issue for me is this is clearly aimed at new PSN users.
I have bought around 20+ games on PSN a couple of PS1 games and a handful of minis, I already own too much of the stuff already. £39.99 a year for free stuff I already have (so far from seeing Month 1 and 2) seems totally pointless
That's not to say it isn't a great offer if you are new to PSN or haven't bought much from PSN.

It'll be interesting to see how the discounts are. A decent number at up to 50% could add up.

As one of the comments said, just don't buy new releases on PSN and wait for them to be included in PSN+.

I'll be waiting til they no doubt slip in something awesome like a Final Fantasy 7 remake and probably end up forking over ?40 for the yearly and not using any of the other stuff
