Uncharted 2 - could see that coming a mile off, I'm still not particularly tempted to try it out though.

I think hes stated before (probabaly in the first play thread) that he fears it is too much like the first game.

People have told him hes wrong and it is a big improvment in many respects but he dosent seem to be having it....

TBH, no it's not.
I'm more than happy when Mario returns to pure platforming, being it 2D or 3D, but NSMBW could have been a lot more. It's a better installment than NSMB on the DS and a good game nonetheless, but inferior in many ways to SMB3 and SMBW. It remains a damn good platform game, but there were many more games I enjoyed more than NSMBW and I have played only one title on the GOTY list (heck, I've played more games on the disappointment list).
Personal opinion: good but far from GOTY.

While I loved both Uncharted games, and still think the first is worth playing, I'd be surprised if someone who absolutely hated the first took to the second much. In many respects you could easily argue it's not that much of an 'improvement'. It's much more polished, and a number of little things are tweaked and generally refined, but it's not that different.

I really disagree, the second is so much better in pretty much every area. The first dosent even really have set peices, so considering the second game has some of the greatest set peices ever seen in a video game, i'd say you are already wrong. Some of the stuff it does are just completley mind blowing and like nothing anyone has ever played and thats a massive improvment alone.

There is also the way it blends the cut scenes with the gameplay, the flow of Uncharted 2 is unparelled, its an increadble and unique experince which the first game has nothing on. There also the fact that it was full of gameplay tweeks, it pretty much matches Gears for the cover based shooter crown, but its so much more than that, it outdoes Tomb Raider at its own game in many respects too.

Uncharted 2 is just an amazing game, possibley the most amazing ever made, I liked the first one, but its not at patch on the sequel, not by a long shot.

I'd easily replace 4 of the top ten with NSMBW.

It's nice to see a top 10 that, other than order, I agree with almost every game being in there. Beats some of the stupid choices some sites pick out as their choices, the only one I'd replace outright would be Assassins Creed 2.

It's interesting to see that there is not one Wii game on the Top 10 there....... I must admit my Wii has not been switched on for possibly 2 years now........ not because there are no good games on it - but there is such great quality on the other platforms...... The fact that Ive thouroughly enjoyed my PS3 gaming alone over this past year is a testament of just how good gaming has become of late.

Killzone 2 alone was a perfect example......... I can't play FPS games, as they make me ill, but for some reason, I was able to play and enjoy the game from start to finish! The only other game I have done this with was Golden Eye on the N64......... and that was another classic!

Im under no illusions that SM Galaxy 2 will be in the GOTY 2010, thus bringing the Wii back into the equation, but it really is great to see that I have had the opportunity to experience most of the game that have appeared on the GOTY 2009 list, and completed them too (which is harder and harder to do now due to time constraints)!

Like most on here, I tend to spend more time talking about games than experiencing them....... But what little time we've had available has actually been spent playing games that are deserving of our valuable free time!

I know it's all 'eye of the beholder' and that but I've seen games like Prototype, Resi 5, Halo ODST mentioned on some sites as peoples choices and whilst they're not bad or meritless games I'd say there's some gulf between them and the games that are on this list.

That said, a few also cite New Mario Bros Wii and I wouldn't place that in the top 10 either

I agree on NSMBWii, not top 10 material.

Looking back on the previous list I've mopped up (or at least tried) pretty much all of the games. Only a few fighters in the lists that I have no interest in.

The few that I need to get around to playing are.
2009 - Shadow Complex, Demon Soul's and I plan to go back to Bayonetta.
2008 - L4D and Fallout 3.
2007 -
2006 -
2005 - Killer 7 (tried a few times but I never got too far).
