Worth noting for kinect dash users is that the Avatat hadn't been updated for new sized avatars so won't work just yet.

I think the new Avatars are because they just don't need big heads anymore. I thought the big heads were to take on the Miis for cuteness but now that so many people are using them just fine, they can make them look a bit more normal.

I'm sure its because of the reason that they have given, it might only be a marginal difference to the body but if they left the head as big perhaps a motion where you made contact with your own head would result in the hand clipping the head on the oversized avatar. It may even be that that specific avatar size works the best for most body shapes.

I was wondering if Kinect would measure your body an size your avatar (height wise) accordingly?

I know that the different body shapes have been a tricky thing for MS, I know someone who has been working on body tracking (he worked for the US government doing missile tracking previously) and he was saying the biggest challenge has been tracking the difference in body speed and movement for different sized people they translating that into a measureable number.
The example I was given was of someone playing tennis, an adult with longer arms would swing for the ball and the racket would travel at a specific speed with a specific amount and in a specific motion due to the proportions of the where joints are etc

a person with shorter arms i.e. a child , moves in a different way due to the proportions of the arms and is unable to exude the same force and speed of movement.

So he has been working on different ways of tracking this data so that movement physically translates better onto an approximate sized avatar and so the software can identify these different variables in sizes.

Does this mean that Kinect will adjust your Avatar to correct proportions? Can't wait to see an Avatar for a 24 stone dude.

It's up now.

Having just downloaded it the first thing I noticed was how much faster everything loads. My premium ODST theme is still up but some of my avatat is missing and I can't seem to access the store to change it. Avatars look weird now that I've grown accustomed to the more deformed Mii style of old.

Indie Games don't work anymore and the Games Library is as slow to load as it ever was.

What does it actually add? I'm on it but probably won't have my 360 on for a couple of days. I looked at the link Major Nelson tweeted yesterday but all I could really see from it is ESPN (not for us though) and Zune something or other (not for us either).
