I'm finding this slower as well plus it seems pointless, everything has much the same layout but it looks and sounds like it's been infected by a Wii.

The main thing this adds you can't see yet cause none of you own a Kinect sensor.

I still like it, I couldn't see any decrease in the speed when I originally upgraded. Things are a bit smoother and slower when you click between things though. Is this what people mean by slow?

Give it a while, the servers are being hammered from all the updates, which means all the images required for the dash to work are taking a little while to recache onto your machines

Yeah, just navigating menus, but it seems to have picked up substantially. Maybe it was while downloading all the artwork or whatever for the tiles.

And LOL at the new "even more hidden away" area for the indie games. They are now in "speicality shop", a place you only go if you want rock bad or lips tracks.

Runs faster for me, which shouldn't really be too hard for MS to achieve. I'd like to be able to choose the colour scheme for the windows and the ability to choose a "simple" interface instead of the normal one, like a dev 360. A general thumbs up, though.

I'll I wanted was for the focus on the menus to be moved so that you can see either side of the focus, instead of it always being at the bottom. The Playstion interface gets this right doesn't it?

The new Zune interface is good. Shame about the content.
Anyone tried ZunePass by the way? What's the music selection like?

The Sony XMB is patented though, can't see MS going anywhere near it design-wise.

Speed-wise, I think it's a mixed bag. Scrolling through menus seems quicker than it was but waiting for things to load (after clicking them) seems slower.

Design-wise, I think it's a monstrosity and way too bright for my liking. Looks like it was designed by a 7 year. Either way, it's an eyesore and the avatars look worse too now they've had their parts proportionally altered. They didn't have much charm and character to begin with but they have none whatsoever now.

Finally navigation-wise, it's a mess, with more sub-menus and sub-categories to get through before finding what you want. I don't quite understand why everything is more of a chore to find with each dashboard update.

So, yeah, overall I think it's piss poor. I'll get used to it but it's a step backwards in my opinion.

                    Current design:

                    BB
                    CC
                    DD
                    EE
                    FF

In this design AA is just below, but you have no idea what it is until you actually press "down"

Surely Sony can't patent the use of:

                    DD
                    EE
                    FF
                    AA
                    BB

                    or even

                    CC
                    DD
                    EE
                    FF
                    AA

It just seems incomprehensible to me how they have created an interface where you have no idea what's next on the menu. The same happens to the left once into a menu.

It sounds like the whole thing just intensifies the problems that people had with the previous version of the NXE. I've yet to use the new version, but the old version of NXE drove me mad enough.

It's been said before a million times, but is XBMC so underneath Mircosoft's radar that they don't see how well that worked? I recognise they're going to want to go for something a little less workmanlike, and better suited to Kinect, but the basic lessons such as simple, intuitive navigation around content seems to have been lost.

My post was edited? Can we not call the incompetent
? It's not that offensive, surely?

"Idiot" would be just as effective and not offensive to the delicate.

Downloaded it and not a massive fan. For starters, again it boots up and highlights SPOTLIGHT, not MY XBOX. I guess this will never happen now as they want you to buy stuff and "content" all the time rather than actually play games.

Also laughed as I remembered the cost of the familty 12 months gold pack at "only £69.99". This was used by the Inside Xbox bloke that does a new feature video. I hope it bombs, hopefully in these times no one in their right mind would give over £70 a year just for GOLD for 4 persons. They are insane but you have to hand it to them for trying!

Also had a poke around the Zune music videos thing. Steaming music videos eh? Hardly, the cost 175 points each! £1.50 for PROMOTIONAL ITEMS! They do know that Sony offer this on the PS3 for NOTHING! (VideoZone).

As somewho didn't think much of the boxes dashboard, this looks absolutely worse. The other one had nice deatils that at least keep it from being awful such as the moving circles on the 'Open Tray' box which is now just solid white.

The Guide is far too flat to even have some flare, and really the whole UI is so terrible it sickens me that they just don't scrap it altogether and just let us do everything under a simple clean interface which doesn't require crawlng through a catogry tree setup.

I still miss the blades, and it'd surprise me when MS realize that they don't need giant boxes on every screen.

Has anyone tried booting XBLA games? every time i try i get disconnected from Live!

Playing a normal game from disc is fine its just on the download stuff
