Can you expand on that? In what ways please? I can see some improvements, but would be interested to hear your thoughts. And do you have kinect?

Personally I think the font and style are both miles better. The old was garish and tacky, it felt thrown out in 5 mins but I guess it was more functional. Despite a few difficult parts, I find the new one to be much more appealing.

@papercut: Actually no, so good tip. Although most of my time in the dash is spent using a remote, not the pad, so I'll have to set up some bumper buttons on the remote (if that's even possible).

It ain't great. They are both about as messy as each other really, huh. The endless sprawling vertical XMB lists are not brilliant.

Its better than the **** that is the new 360 front end and SONY seemed to still have the Hardware and Gaming bug rather than the social & Kinect **** MS seem to want to shove on us.

I agree with the fact the social stuff is ****e and annoying, but the Xbox dash has always been leaps and bounds ahead of the PS3 one through each iteration. And the fact that you don't have to have monthly patches for it that are huge just for what? a front end. This is my main problem with the PS3 still, all the patches for anything are huge. I can only hope that MS stay with their patch policy for the next Xbox.

Yes, have have Kinect. I love the voice commands, Bing search is also cool and works well. Kinect menu control is great, easy to control, fast and smooth. I like the way the items under each heading are grouped into a block making them easy to see and select. It still needs a few little tweaks like moving some of the main headings around but over all it is great. I also tried it with a pad to select the menus, simple presses of the LB and RB seem really fast easy and less "laggy" than the old menu navigation. I really like the the horizontal way of navigating, suits 16:9 screens. The other features like "cloud" storage is useful, if a little late :P ...not sure what the hell beacons is, all I know is I posted one on my Facebook page lol.

You can still play your games, I think it takes, what two or three button presses to launch them? You sound like Microsoft are doing it to spite you personally, many people like social gaming and Kinect.

No I just think that when you update something you're usually meant to improve it , this new update does anything but, its just a mess and made stuff harder to find . I have Kinect and still find it easier to use the pad or the quite brilliant 360 remote, than wave my hands . I don't mind social functions at all, but the likes of Facebook are just lame and pretty pointless on the 360 and find it quite amazing that MS still won't let you surf the web on the 360; In almost every way this update is a step backwards and its still pretty crap than my PS 3 will play more media files than my 360 and the time is takes Zune to load up and play a video- which really should have been fixed by now.

I will say that viewing what other people are doing on their 360's and sending messages and invites is still leagues ahead of SONY

i copy my save data to a usb mem card every other day when i take my gamertag ect to my friends house, it took 2 minutes before this update and it now takes nearly 20 minutes , the file data is the exact same size, i have even tried another memory card and its as slow

Also it annoys me you get a tiny little box showing what game disc is in, and a huge great advert for Fifa, i had to check i had the right disc in first time i updated this, Very very poor update.

Move your saves to cloud storage then you won't have to keep moving it about?

When using the cloud saves and cloud profiles, what happens if you lose connection? Does it temporarily download them until you turn the machine off or something? And if your profile is online, can you still keep one offline? Confused.

After having used as many aspects of the new dash in various scenarios, messaging, playing games and browsing all the components available to us users. I can only conclude that it's a big pile of wank.
One of the things that really gets my goat is as a paying gold user is the bloody adds. Maybe force adds on non paying silver users but give the option to turn them off for people paying for the service.

I apologise in advance if the word "wank" is not a suitable word to use on the forum. But the asterix fairy didn't block it out. My first choice of words was "a piece of ******g ***t" but you can see the problems I had there.
