Halo 3 maybe timing sensitive so its access speed from hard drive may have been deliberately limited

Halo 3 caches virtually the entire game onto the HDD anyway, so it maybe goes slower because it is reading and writing lots to the HDD when it is running from there.
I noticed an improvement in the stability of the menus though when it first loads up

Eurogamer have done a "Disc vs Install" comparison. Makes interesting reading, not a huge difference in load times infact Halo 3 loads slower via the install method

when you hear the near silence coming from your 360, believe me you wont care....

I've picked up a 120gig harddrive purely for the noise issue. I don't care if it loads faster, I just want to be able to game without having to use headphones to drown out the noise of the DVD drive.

From when I had to load campaign with my profile on memory card and HDD removed (because my knackered old drive wouldn't load quick enough and the game spat out DREs when it tried to cache) I didn't notice any difference. There were more hitches and pauses in-game, though.

I have the same recollection. I think we'll be able to queue stuff via xbox.com which will then start downloading when our 360s connect to Live.

I think you might be confused with the netflix part of the update. Which only applies to the us and netflix users.

Please correct me if i'm wrong though as what your talking about sounds great.

No, you really will be able to cue downloads via Xbox.com

Here's how it will work - the 360 doesn't have WoL so it'll have to be done manually.
