Good times for gamers.
The last 3 reviews upped have been 10s (and there was also my 11/10 just before them
). Regardless of whether they should or should not have actually got the top spot, these are quality games in both mainstream and niche genres (SMG2, Death Smiles and LIMBO).
I'll be grabbing LIMBO as soon as it arrives later today. Meanwhile I'm playing Sin and Punishment 2 on the Wii which will probably get ~9/10 when I review it. It's the J version which I've had hanging around since the J launch AGES ago, but due to backlog have only just reached it. I wish I'd prioritised it (as was my intention) to make people more aware of it because it's FANTASTIC.
The last things I played were Deadly Premonition and Red Dead Redemption. Deadly Premonition is by far the best adventure game I've ever played. And Red Dead is an amazing way to take the GTA template and breathe new life into it with a fantastic setting, glorious views, and some cool gameplay.
Additionally, I've got the US version of Death Smiles ready to be hammered as soon as I'm done with S&P2 and although the US port doesn't look perfect (weird solvable screensize issues and some slowdown removed), it's still looking like an amazing game - it's refreshing to play a quality side scroller too.
A look down the First Play forum shows that there really isn't enough time in the world to play all the good stuff.
What's the point of this post? Just to big up our hobby really. End of last year it dipped a bit for me, but I'm certainly getting my money's worth at the moment.
