    New id Reveal Incoming (8:30PM)

Carmack tweeted that he's doing a big reveal tonight.

All signs point towards Doom 4. They've said previously it'll be shown at Quakecon.

Bit unclear if they're using the Rage engine for it or a brand new engine. Heard both from them. Carmack has however said the game will look much better than Rage.

Malc is going to explode with excitement with this!

I played through and thoroughly enjoyed Doom II a few months ago and not only does it stand up, there's still little else like it.

Do people think it'll continue along the Rage story path or considering Doom III's failings, will it hark back to the original series of non-stop action?

I think they're going to create much more of a horror game this time, work on creating really horrific enemies and situations. Wouldn't surprise me if they ramp up the number of demons so you're dealing with a dozen or so monsters at the same time rather than 2 or 3.

      Hard to know though.

I'm in the middle of Doom II again on xbla and it's still great fun to play, the level design is just excellent!

I'm hoping to see Doom 4 being announced, and I hope they will make it more like Doom 2instead of Doom 3 ....

          Mmmhhh.

I get real excited about anything id do, mainly if it involves John Carmack.

If I had to, I would place my bets on it being Doom 4, as they have mentioned it a while a go now, and they also said it would be running on the id tech 5 engine, but would run at 30hz on consoles, giving roughly 3 times the graphical fidelity than Rage.

Can't wait to see what it is. *Goes off to search for Carmack's twitter account.

EDIT: It's more than likely going to be Doom 4, as looking at last years quake con they said that they would be talking more about it next year (which is this weekend's quakecon).

Doom 4 will be the main thing there. They've been essentially saying they would start giving details at this quakecon for the past two years. The only thing that could possibly top that is the Respawn muppets Zampella/West are there on one of the panels.

Thankfully Rage got the techdemo treatment this engine iteration but Doom 4 will be console focused regardless of what they say.

I'm not expecting anything special from Doom 4 apart from the pretty. The gameplay will just be a rehash of cinematic style we've been playing for the past few years.

I'd like it to be less cinematic if anything.

Less scientists dying behind bulletproof glass, more being terrified that a bunch of demons are about to feast on your spleen.

I'd like a return to the action packed mayhem that made Doom great in the first place. Doom 3 just didn't feel like Doom.

Doom 4 has just been denied, aint being show apparently.
Jason West and Vince Zampella (ex infinity ward now Respawn Entertainment) are doing a keynote tomorrow called Building Blockbusters

I can live without Doom 4, I just hope that the license the engine to Ubisoft to make a film of the Burma Conspiracy aka Largo Winch 2
