Stopping auto renewal of XBL account

Anyone know how to stop a renewal of an XBOX Live account? Mine is due to expire/renew in a month's time... and I can't seem to stop it! My credit card is active too, so it'll just renew unless I take action.

I did it by using a subscription code. It was one of those free 1 month ones.

But when that expires, it'll still be auto renewal, and just use my credit card then won't it?

It didn't with me. Using the code over rode it and once it ran out it went to silver.

Dunno if they've changed it but if they have you can probably expect to have the very long telephone conversation with MS support.

Hmm I think I would rather take my chances with a code than talk to MS support first. Ta for that tip. I will dig one out tonight

Forgot to add, you should be able to tell if it works because it'll change the auto renew settings automatically. Have a look once you've redeemed the code and see what it says.

I believe the only way to get your credit card off the system is to phone MS up... partly why I've always stuck to the prepaid cards route for all transactions on my 360.

You can now remove your debit/credit card from the xbox website. It's under the memberships tab I think. That will stop the auto-renewel process.
