^The Simpsons Hit & Run, it was actually a very decent game. 
Glad some are valuing the thread, can also see why others aren't.
I think my first intention was to create a list of games that had vast, open worlds that could be fully traversed (say, like GTA San Andreas, as one example), BUT then you could say that certain flight sims offer vast landscapes that can be fully traversed, yet most would not consider them 'sandbox', yet a few would. I've noticed that the term 'sandbox' seems to have different meaning in different people's heads, it is not one, single definable element.
