I wouldn't put FO3 as a loot-whore game at all. Don't really remember any unique weapons or armour in the game.

Well there are weapons that you had to construct by collecting lots of various tat in the Wastelands, and a lot of collecting missions, like teddy bears nuka cola, scrap metal etc..........

The amount of times i had to go back to Megaton/Tenpenny Towers to unload my findings, was crazy!

Plus the hundreds of filing cabinets, desks, draws, and safes you crack into to loot for goods, if that isnt looting, then ive never played a looting game

          plus don't forget the bobbleheads

Yeah, the Bobbleheads are the best example because they're unique and useful (And fit into a lovely display case) - but they're in the same place no matter what you do (Unless you miss the miss-able ones), which ruins the fun.

The thrill of loot-whoring games is having something flash purple under your cursor when you're least expecting it. It's that element of the unknown that could turn up the most epic item in the game, or nothing useful at all. <3

Hmm, I need to play Sacred 2 again (And actually get a way into it this time...).

Dragon Quest IX is great for this - I love loot games too!

Monster Hunter Portable 1/2 is fantastic also. (As is Tri but honestly I just don't like my Wii that much..)

If you fancy giving an MMO a go.. Final Fantasy XI?

For me, a loot game is any game where randomly generated loot with different degrees of rarity and power is key draw of the game. So most Japanese RPGs and games like Fallout 3 aren't loot games, as although they have plenty of collectables, there isn't that thrill of finding a super rare item by chance. In those games everything is placed.
