I know there are other thread(s) about PS+ but I'm considering subscribing after hearing Sam and Max is free at the moment for subscribers. So, any of you whop have already subscribed, what do you think? Worth it?

Is Playstation Plus Good Value For Money?

For me I'd say definately not. If you're new to PSN or haven't really followed its releases then I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. Otherwise, currently it's still not really that appealing a service for many as the titles available are the kinds of things that are old releases that most users will have already paid for. Sam & Max was a great incentive and a hint at the direction it should be headed in. Really, PSN Plus should offer brand new titles for free that are available a month later at cost for non-PSN users. This lag means it's forever missing out on many of the type of people that would otherwise jump at it.

As for the online experience, I guess it depends what you want. No question it's not as functional or co-ordinated (For want of a better word) as Xbox Live, but on the occasions where I've wanted to play online (KZ2 and Resistance 2 primarily) I've had no trouble at all.

Pointless for me personally. The JPN version offers better content, but I'd rather just buy the things that I want instead of being force fed stuff they want to give me. Plus you have to keep paying every year or you lose what you have been given. It's just a massive rental scheme of stuff that gets chosen for me IMO.Kept you waiting, huh?

It's been worth what I've paid for it so far, I appreciate you don't get the games indefinitely but that's always the way it is with services such as this and Live.
As people repeatedly point out, we don't technically get anything for free but that's unfortunately the way free stuff works. At any retail outlet you've been told you're getting something free, you've paid for it already just usually not as a one off fee as a part of that particular transaction.
Free healthcare in the UK? Certainly doesn't appear to be free when I look at the tax on my pay slip every month.
Brad, it really depends on how you feel it's going to affect you, have a look what's available and they seem to be wanting to improve it as they go along. If you really want Sam & Max then you can rent it the other way and pay the one off fee of £20 or whatever the hell it is at the moment.
If nothing else, as a European PLUS subscriber I'll be downloading the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow demo which hasn't been announced for the subscribers in other regions or Xbox Live subscribers yet, although it will surely follow in the next couple of weeks or so.Last edited by JP; 21-09-2010, 21:33.

I think i've had my moneys worth so far, got to play a few decent games and minis that I probably wouldn't have bothered with as well as some discounts.
Also as mentioned the Sam & Max games are £20 to buy, I'd of probably paid that, played through them once and then never touched them again so for things like that I think it's a pretty decent rental service.
