    Independent Games Publishers

Are there any particularly famous ones?

I'm thinking that the rise of digital distribution must have led to more people taking the decision to self publish a title but my knowledge is a little limited in this area.

Anyone an expert? Or a publisher of their own content?

What do you mean by independent? EA and Microsoft are independent; whereas Sega, Taito and Atlus are subsidiaries.

I suppose I mean non platform Holders and smaller houses.

Like Playdead, Hello Games and Dark Energy Digital.

They develop and publish stuff themselves rather than through the powerhouses like EA and Activision.

NIS publish through Atlus and/or Square most of the time. Most of the 'indies' on Live are published by Microsoft.

There's really only Codemasters to be honest.

I don't think NIS have published anything through Atlus since Disgaea on PS2, have they?

NIS publish their own stuff in the US. Square-Enix distribute for them in Australia. I don't know about anywhere else.
