Beyond Good & Evil HD scheduled for 2011

According to IGN UK, Ubisoft will release on XBLA and PSN a remake for BG&E with full HD visuals, revamped models and textures, rearranged soundtrack.
Ubisoft didn't specify a more specific release date other than 2011.

My speculation is that Ubisoft will use this remake to see if developing BG&E2 is economically feasible and not that BG&E2's developed assets are going to be used in this remake because its development has been scrapped, as the voice in my head is suggesting.

Nice. It will be interesting to see if Ubi and MS try to use this to raise the price barrier again.

Bah. Just hurry up and make 2 already.

I've just procured the original on the GC again
Probably the only game I've ever sold and then acquired again.

That's excellent news. I was running it on PC the other day and it's still a stunning game. The Character models are the only bit that looked a bit Ps2ey

Cool. I played this at launch, loved it, and the haven't touched it since. Some of it is still fresh in my memory, but a lot I've forgotten. It'd be great to play a slightly updated version again.

The Cube version of this was absolutely stunning. One of my favourite games of the last generation.

              I can't wait for this.

Picked up a new US copy of this on PS2 in the summer for a fiver. Been meaning to see what all the fuss is about but I still haven't gotten around to it.

Be nice to see a sequel though.

The trailer for the sequel made it look horrendous. The beauty of the first game was in it's smoth stylised graphics so for Ubi to put out a trailer that looked really detailed (oh God, the pig model) didn't sit right with me.

It did look a bit too gritty and grimy style as opposed to the comic stylings of the original.

First screens have been released and this is looking... tasty!

They don't need to bother with re-arranging the soundtrack.. they should only worry about fixing the game-breaking bugs that were in the original.

I think its good that they are doing this, it will certainly help raise the games profile in preparation for the sequel. Only downside is that there is no hope of ever seeing the original game on the 360's backwards compatability list now though

Is there any work being done on backwards compatability these days? I thought they stopped working on that years ago.

I am happy this game gets a make over. I loved it on both ps2 & xbox (I had to replay it because I only kept one save file and encountered that damn game breaking key card bug).

Hopefully enough people buy it so we'll get the sequel it deserves.
