I must have had better luck with my hardware in general. Two fat PS2s and both still work fine, my brother has a PS4, no worries, my 360 still works fine, and my Xbox One is still working perfectly. Only thing I managed to do was break a One pad (and got it replaced as it was within the 12 months warranty), but that's about it!

Really good going. All my consoles have failed at some point, except my Mega Drive that still works.

      PlayStation: Flames
PlayStation 2: blown fuse replaced = blown motherboard.
PlayStation 3: PSU fail locking Skyrim into the disc drive.
      Xbox 360: red ring
      Xbox 360 elite: red ring
PlayStation 4: Died after a powercut... Then resurrected itself and is still working....

I only had major trouble with my first 360 which RRoD'd from excitement during the Dead Rising demo.

Other than that, my PAL DC would do the random reset so I returned it for a Japanese model.

I've always been quite fortunate with consoles; I had two 360s for pretty much the machine's entire active life, and when I got rid of each, they still worked as well as the day I got them. Ditto for my PS3 which is a 2010 slim model and still going.

The only machine I've ever had problems with was the Dreamcast, though I should state, I never had problems with the original one I owned, bought new, back when the machine first came out. I also had it for years and it didn't discolour even slightly. I've had only had trouble with second-hand machines years later, and why are they always yellow? Wish I'd kept that one now. These days I don't know how I would go about buying a DC; they're just so unreliable. Polar opposite of the Saturn and Megadrive which seemed built like a brick ****house.

It's like the N64. I had my machine for years, and when I sold it, the pad was in great condition. Every used pad I've seen ever since ~1999 always has a knackered stick with worn off plastic about the gate. What the hell do people do with them?!

Out of everything I have ever owned, the only thing to die 100% have been XBox 360s. My original PS3 has had problems with its disc mechanic and sounds like an airplane and I have been sure for about 5 years that it will die but it just keeps on going.

Other than that, ever system I have ever owned still works.

I had 1 360 totally die on me and a gamecube where the drive broke

I actually profited from splitting up and selling my 360's parts which I put towards an Elite model

It's an irk when you say how you're upset a console has died but instead of sympathy, you get one-upmanship with people talking about fires and explosions.

                  Heartless bastards.

It's only because they've never skated with you, QC.

Casinos, in particular JRPGs putting gear progression / trophies behind these daft RNG mini-games

                            The timing of internet sales.

I just went on Steam with the intention of buying something which yesterday was in the sale for half price, and today, it's full price.

Am I the only one who only buys stuff in sales? I can probably count on one... In fact on one finger (Half-Life 2 back in the early 2000s) the games in my library that were bought full price.

I was going to buy Fight'n'Rage, which looks pretty good: https://store.steampowered.com/app/674520/FightN_Rage/

But now I guess I'll have to wait until the Christmas sale and see if it's in that.

I hesitated because I was waiting until the end of the month (payday), and had just decided naw, screw it, it looks really good... Well **** that.

I realise I’m probably in the minority here but I think the sales on Steam are too good. They often cut the prices so much that, yeah, many people will wait for the inevitable sale to buy a game and it devalues games on the platform. It’s not quite App Store level but it approaches that.

I could go either way. The point is that the sales on Steam are that good and that frequent that I tend to consider the sale price to be the actual price!
