Imagine a new Strider game. How should it play/look?

Along with probably Shinobi, I reckon Strider is one of the coolest game characters out there. I think it's been about ten years since he starred in his own video game and with classic game series such as Castlevania recently getting a reboot, do you reckon Capcom should give Strider Hiryu another run out?

If so, how would you design the game? Would you stick to a 2D battle plane or would you unleash/risk him into a 3D world?

How would the game look? Will Strider now have the ability to launch his opponents into the air for air combo into a ground slamming finisher?

Personally, I'd like to keep it 2D with maybe a bit of a Metroid map and new ability system...hmm I dunno.

What you reckon? Just interested to know.

High res 3D graphics played on a 2D plane. You can buy abilities and upgrades like how you can in Viewtiful Joe, and it'll have a similar grading syetem which encourages you to replay the levels in order to improve your grade.

*Digs out Strider on the PS1*

Buying upgrades and abilities would make for a terrible Strider game IMO.

The PS1 version was excellent. No need for another.
      Kept you waiting, huh?

It does indeed and with good reason
It's directed by Kouichi Yotsui, director of Strider.

              That does look damn good.

Must admit though I cannot decide if I would like a new 2D Strider or a 3D Prince of Persia, maybe Bayonetta style game.

It would be like God of War but futuristic.

                  Agreed. Under-appreciated game Strider 2.
With that and Cannon Dancer, you've got all the Strider you need really.

I wouldn't want too many power ups and chain attacks etc. There was always a balletic quality to strider and I think it would loose that feeling if it was all lightning strikes and over the top power ups. I have such fond memories of that game. I remember when I had the megadrive version I would only play it on hard and refused to ever use a continue. In those days I had no cash and would always make a game last as long as possible.

That's another game by Isuke. He obviously can't let Strider go

I wanted to like Cannon Dancer but felt it was highly overrated. Strider could be messy gameplay wise now and again but Cannon Dancer took it to new levels. It occupies the same place as Edward Randy for me now, it looks nice but plays like a bag of spanners.
