Having played KOTOR for so long, I will use my new found Jedi mind powers to see into the mind of Cacophanus...

Mmm, don't think Force Persuade will work here. Ah well. Looks like it's Force Storm then.

Over hyped? Have you tried to buy the game? Last time I looked only Game stocked it. I quickly ran for the safety of Play, but I can't see it making much of a dent on the charts. Feel free to post the charts where ZOE 2 is top, thus making me look an even bigger moron.

I am talking about the press and "fans".

My press consits of Edge, Eurogamer.net, NTSC-UK and Gamecentral, so that's why I haven't noticed.

And hey, I did say I was a fanboy, and thus devoid of all rational thought on the subject.

Now i have completed this in Japanese and as my Japanese is not brilliant at the moment i did not understand the story, although i thought it seemed very good. My JPN version just has produced by Hideo Kojima to my recollection, which i think is good because people like him n Yu Suzuki etc need to be known for there brilliance with games.

Anyway back to what i think of Anubis, i thought some of the battles got a bit repetative and boring at times with slash, slash, slash although there are many moments of sheer brilliance with some battles that involve different weaponry n tactics to accomplish them, these battles i cannot speak of as not to spoil the game for anyone. I actually like the anime cutscences and as i am a fan of anime that's not really suprising and i thought the cutscences were good and added to the atmosphere of the game.

I thought the game had a better mixture of battles and other missions this time rnd where as in Z.O.E it was simply beat baddy get upgrade now it's beat baddy, do puzzle/task get upgrade mostly, which i felt helped improve the game alot.

As for the cell shading i don't really agree wiv it either n think Kojima n co r just jumping on the band wagon although it does look nice and is not over done. Controlling Jehuty feels smooth but i found it sometimes awkward navigating certain areas, but all in all control was good. The new moves are brilliant, but i felt myself over using the grab and spin attack rather alot n this sort of annoyed me. But this is the only thing u can do i feel when surrounded by enemies. As for the music at the start, i bought the soundtrack if u like the music u shud do that. Don't the voices at the start add to the mood? Hope that ws alrite i know it ws brief.

I'm rather partial to spamming people with gauntlet myself...

And no, my PAL version has typical done-at-the-last-minute voiceovers, which are dire. Wish there had been an option to have subs, and jap audio.

I think the battles are only slightly better than ZOE, but it is the environments that make them so much more interesting. Much better than trying not to destroy the buildings in the original. And the woman navigator mission had me in stiches...

"No, that's no right, we should be over... no that's it, forward." Dumb idiot.

I am a fan too, but fans are supposed to be aware when they are offered turds in terms of gameplay. Anubis is a rather crusty piece of faeces in terms of what is currently out there (most notably Armored Core 3 Silent Line).

Ahh great, it's not just me who is getting tired of his over opinionated playground rants then? One post is all it takes to say you dislike a game.

Just finished the game. Errr...well...you know all that fanboy stuff...er...see...

The final two boss battles ruin the game. I haven't been this incesed by a boss since Sonic Adventure 2. I'm all for tough bosses (I've killed Mizar from Jet Force Gemini. Twice) but cheap gits who use stupid attacks get my goat.

In the first stage Anubis uses a homing shot attack, like yours. But, and here's the kicker...

The problem is, he randomly combines this with a comet like attack, or some melee hits. If he does this, you die. It is that simple. If he doesn't, and you take half his energy off, you have a decent chance of winning. It's the same in the final boss fight, but less cheesy and with more empahsis on hitting him.

I can't understand how it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I was spitting bile. The rest of the game is still good, but I'm left empty by those battles. And the ending has nothing on the originals. That was open-ended with quality music. The sequel closes well, but repeats the music from the title.

And it hasn't unlocked the Zoradius sub-game. Just tinkering with the Viper in the VS is enough to whet my appetite. Cacophanus, how do I unlock it. It it hidden somewhere in the game for you to find on the second run through, with all the weapons?

I thought ZOE 2 was a very good game. The way you have to incorporate your new powers into the different scenarios really worked for me and i enjoyed sussing out the bosses.

Highlights were taking on the armada and facing the Vic Viper.

Camera was definitely a problem but I found I got used to it and that occasionally centreing it negated it becoming unworkable.

I played and thoroughly enjoyed it before I had heard a peep from any reviews or users. If I'd waited to see opinion I might not have bothered, glad I did. Conversely I felt robbed blind by DMC2 which arrived on my doorstep the same week.

                        Swings and roundabouts.

I'm with JU. The last two boss battles are easy if you know what you're doing. The first part took me two tries, while the second I did on the first attempt.

You can dodge that comet attack you speak of. You just have to speed burst out of the way left or right at the last second when it approaches, and then zero shift up to Anubis and hack the **** out of it.

                            Rince and repeat...

Have you been playing the NTSC version, or the 'actually-poses-a-challenge' PAL version?
