I was looking forward to playing this, but I'm not so sure now. The thought that someone might have purchased the game because of these bottom-feeders has made a little bit of sick rise up in my throat.

At least you managed to catch it. I've just projectile vomited over the woman sat in front of me on the bus!!

If they appear in the ad for DKC Returns I will boycott the game.

You're a lucky man. Nobody should be subjected to these morons.

To be honest they offend me far less than JLF or whatever they are called. Good on them if people want to play them thousands for acting like dickheads. The adverts are not aimed at us, so I don't quite understand why everyone is getting worked up.

That Dragon Quest games are being promoted on TV at all, let alone in this way, is truly bizarre.

But what we need to remember is that Nintendo's advertising budgets are deep, their hardware is in huge demand still, and it's all being pushed towards a massive audience the likes of most of us here can barely understand anymore. These ads will work, and DQ will be sold to an unsuspecting public because of them. Nintendo aren't dumb, they're just playing to the audience that is there for them now.

It's incredibly misleading advertising on behalf of Nintendo, but it's not clueless either.

What's misleading about it? Other than that they're obviously focusing on the dressing up is fun part.

Nintendo's advertising has been incredibly clever of late, there have been a few ads that literally describe the game, highlight the parallels between the game and other mainstream hits like professor layton.

You can just see all those older players who haven't bought a game since they got their console, Brain Training and Proffessor Layton all thinking "hmmm I've not got the old DS out in months, I'll buy Puzzle Mansion adventure"

I really think Nintendo (Europe) have been amazing over the last 3 years. You'd have never seen games like Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest and Sin & Punishment heavily pushed on TV in the past.

I like the way they still advertise older titles like Brain Training. I honestly don't know why more companies don't take this approach. It can help keep the value of their product higher for longer and in the case of online games it would surely keep a supply of 'fresh blood'.

Because they can't simply advertise it as a straight-up, hackathon nerdfest RPG to the masses, they instead concentrate on weirdly hamming up a tiny portion of the gameplay that could appeal to them, however irrelevant that is. So we get Jedward running around the place, and kooky teenagers having ker-aazy FUN dressing up their characters, and market that like it's the meat-and-veg of the game.

Presumably those girly dress-em-up DS games for children (of which there are seemingly hundreds) sell sizable units, more so than say, Japanese RPG's. Naturally Nintendo want that market to buy their games, no Ubisoft's (or whoever).
