    problems with xbox 360 slim

Hi Folks I recently bought a slim and it was lovely and quiet at first but it has started to make a vibrating noise.the machine is placed flat and I always install every game.I never place any of my consoles vertically.it does not happen when there is no game disc in the drive.has anybody else encountered this problem?

Are those noises present with every game disc or only with some of them? Not all game discs are manufactured equally well and sometimes a disc is not 100% flat. That may cause a vibration noise when the disc is spinning in the drive. Is this noise also present when there is no disc activity?

You could try to position your console upright for a day to see if it changes the noise. With my slim the upright position produces more drive noises, though, but it might help in your case. The 360 slim is designed for both horizontal and vertical positioning so it's atleast worth a try if the sound emission bothers you.

Another thing you could try is to put some kind of rubber sheet or the like underneath the console. Old mouse pads could be useful or rubber feet that are sold for the use with loudspeakers or subwoofers.

I've had a similar problem to this with my slim machine, and it's pretty much exactly what Dragonfly has said!

It's lovely and quiet all the time, just certain disc tend to 'rattle' and really make it noisy! They install perfectly fine, and the machine remains whisper quiet afterwards. I've tried another copy of the same game, and other games and it really is hit and miss as to which ones are noisy and which ones are not!

I've also tried putting something under the console as Dragonfly suggested and that did the trick - a noisy disc became a quiet one doing that.

Therefore it's 100% down to the discs and nothing really to do with the machine. I'd just install the games you want to play and then enjoy nice quiet gaming!
