Technically no as i'm sure it actually came out 1 or 2 days after launch but it would be incredibly anal if anyone argued that it shouldn't count as a launch title

Mario 64 is actually my favourite game ever so add that too.

Altered Beast on the MD - Yes its actually rubbish but it was all I had and played it so much I could go thru the game with no damage well into the second loop

I was going to put that in my list too. I have a soft spot for it, and it's a lot better than people give it credit for.

The intersting thing about these lists, despite the Mario repetition of course is the amount of strong launch titles over the years. While not many console launches are amazing, individual games are.

For me I could put a case forward for many others mentioned here that I didn't mention myself. Pilotwings, Ridge Racer, Ridge Racers, Mario 64, Halo and so on.

When I saw a mates PS1 running RR on the tv at home I was like WHAT IS THIS 3D and bought one soon after.

Tetris on the Gameboy is a good call given it pretty much sold that console and certainly something I ploughed many hours into.

Project Gotham Racing is the reason I bought an Xbox rather than Halo, I'd assumed MSR had effectively died with the Dreamcast so was very surprised to find the the Batman themed racer I'd assumed from the title was actually a follow up.

Probably have to put Super Mario World as well to be fair as that's one of the main reasons I went for a SNES and played the game to death.

Which brings up an interesting point. Which region(s) are we using for the term "launch title"? Because the only region where Gameboy Tetris was a launch title was in Europe; the Gameboy was out in Japan and the US I believe before the game was released in those respective territories.
